Job summary
This Kitchen Porter works within a team to assist in providing clean, safe and efficient kitchen and dining areas to encourage patients wellbeing and recovery.
Riverdale Grange is a small independent (mental health unit) hospital providing care and treatment for Adults and Young People with an eating disorder.
The role works with the Chef to provide food for patients and staff within the Hospital and ensuring that food preparation areas and eating areas are fit for purpose.
Main duties of the job
To assist in the preparation and service of meals across both hospital units as required and in the correct manner according to portion control.
To be aware of patient special diets / allergies and to ensure that all special dietary needs / requests are followed.
To assist the Chef in preparation, storage and rotation of food for the hospital.
To continually monitor current food stock according to the food policy on labelling and permitted storage dates
To assist in the processing of incoming deliveries, quality monitoring, reporting and recording any adjustments on relevant paperwork
To assist the Chef in ensuring that the catering and eating areas across the hospital meet strict hygiene standards.
To clean kitchens and dining rooms and dining rooms equipment and premises in accordance with duty rotas and work schedules using the
Attend shift in uniform, use protective clothing provided and wear suitable footwear.
About us
Riverdale Grange Hospital is a Specialist Eating Disorders Hospital for both CAMHs and Adult patients. Initially opening in 1995 for adult patients only and then in 2007 for CAMHs patients. Although Riverdale Grange is an independent hospital it only provides beds for the NHS and is commissioned by the South Yorkshire and Bassetlaw Provider Collaborative.
There are 18 beds within the hospital 9 Adult and 9 CAMHs, CAMHs patients are from 13 to 18 years old and the adult ward is from 18+. All patients admitted to Riverdale Grange Hospital must have a primary diagnosis of and recognised eating disorder. Riverdale Grange Hospital does admit detained patients and patients that require Naso-Gastric feeding in order to prevent physical health deterioration.
Riverdale Grange Hospital has a robust multi-disciplinary team approach and follows a family based therapeutic approach.

Person Specification
Experience Essential
Experience of and the ability to work within a team Experience of cleaning and cleanliness standards required in a kitchen environment. Knowledge of COSHH Knowledge of Food Safety Standards Knowledge and experience of working within infection prevention Ability to problem solve Ability to communicate Ability to work independently without direct supervision. Ability to maintain basic written records. Demonstrate a positive attitude Ability to plan, prioritise workload and manage time effectively.
