Job summary
The post holder will be responsible for the strategic and operational leadership of Sterile Services and Decontamination Services across Hampshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, including responsibility for services provided at the Andover, Basingstoke and Winchester sites, and liaison with external organisations accessing the service.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will be accountable for ensuring compliance with all relevant statutory, regulatory and professional requirements relating to decontamination and sterilisation services. They will be responsible for the implementation, maintenance and continuous improvement of accredited quality management systems and working practices in line with current legislation, national guidance, Health Technical Memoranda (HTM 01-01 and HTM 01-06), Medical Device Regulations and recognised quality standards.
The post holder will provide expert professional leadership, specialist advice and strategic direction to the Trust on all aspects of decontamination, sterilisation and endoscopy decontamination services. They will lead on the development and implementation of service strategies to ensure safe, effective and sustainable services that support organisational objectives and regulatory compliance.
The post holder will lead and manage staff within the decontamination specialities, fostering a culture of continuous improvement, quality and professional development. Responsibilities will include workforce planning, recruitment, appraisal, mandatory training, continuing professional development, performance management and succession planning across all three sites.

Training and Qualifications Essential
Postgraduate qualification or equivalent level of knowledge gained through postgraduate study, specialist training and experience. Internal Auditors Course Chartered Member/Fellow of the Institute of Decontamination Sciences Evidence of continued professional development Leadership and Management qualification (e.g. ILM, NHS Leadership Academy programmes)
Desirable
Master's Degree or equivalent Degree or equivalent professional qualification in a relevant scientific, healthcare, technical or management discipline. Lead Auditor Qualification for ISO 13485
Experience & Knowledge Essential
Significant experience of working within a compliant decontamination/sterile services environment, including experience at a senior operational or management level Significant management experience within a healthcare decontamination environment Detailed knowledge of HTM 01-01 and HTM 01-06 Knowledge of Medical Device Regulations and MHRA guidance Experience of maintaining ISO 13485 Quality Management Systems and external accreditation audits Experience of managing validation, verification and testing programmes for decontamination equipment Experience of managing, leading, and motivating a team Experience of leading service changes to improve performance
