Are you passionate about mental health care and ready for a new challenge? Roseberry ward are looking to recruit RMNs who are passionate about working with the older person. Roseberry Ward is a 15 bedded, mixed sex functional ward.

Whether you're an experienced Registered Nurse or a Newly Registered Nurse, this is a fantastic opportunity to be part of a service that puts patient care first. You will have the time and support to make a real difference every day.

Main duties of the job

As a Staff Nurse on Roseberry Ward, you will work alongside a team of nurses, healthcare assistants, psychologists, physiotherapists, occupational therapists and other members of the MDT as part of a large multi-disciplinary team approach striving towards excellent patient care.

You will be expected to carry out all aspects of patient care including medication, one to one time with patients, observations including physical health observations, co-ordination of the shift and depending on experience, nurse in charge. We offer a full induction process and training to ensure you have the required confidence, knowledge and skills for this role.

Each inpatient ward is fully equipped with activity and therapeutic spaces to enable patients to recover in a timely way so that they can be safely discharged back to their usual place of residence.

Roseberry Ward is situated within Bowes Lyon Unit on the Lanchester Road Hospital site. The hospital has numerous vocational and therapeutic areas in a friendly, caring and therapeutic environment.

We will support you by offering regular supervision, training opportunities and encourage your development and role within this developing team on the delivery of Patient Centred Care, support for carers and evidence based practice.

The successful applicant will be expected to work 12 hours shifts covering 24/7 days and nights and public holidays.

Person Specification

Qualifications Essential

Current professional registration with Nursing & Midwifery Council RNMH or RNLD To be recognised practice assessor / mentor or work towards in an agreed timescale Trained Clinical Supervisor (within 6 month probationary period) Evidence of Continuing Professional Development

Experience Essential

Working with people with mental ill health. Working in a person centred therapeutic organisation Working in an inpatient environment Working collaboratively with service users and their families/carers Working in a multi-disciplinary team Working in partnership with other agencies

Knowledge Essential

Evidenced based knowledge of best practice in caring for patients in the designated field. Clinical Risk Assessment and Management and its application in practice. Clinical Governance and its application in practice.

Skills Essential

Communicate complex and sensitive information effectively to patients, carers/families and all members of the multidisciplinary team Work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team Manage own time and prioritise effectively Co-ordinate and prioritise the activities of the ward/community team Motivate and work positively and assertively with other members of the team Undertake lead professional/care co-ordinator responsibilities (following probationary period) Provide (following probationary period) effective teaching, training and clinical supervision.
