Job summary This is a whole time equivalent post for a Trust Doctor in Neurology. This post will be available from 4/8/26. This is for a period of 6 months.

This post will deliver 40 hours supporting the Neurology team. The post-holder will provide support to the Neurology department. There will be opportunities to contribute to the on call rota.

The post will be based at the Leeds General Infirmary

Applicants should have established skills in general neurology and stroke. Excellent communication and team working skills, a strong commitment to teaching and service development are essential.

Main duties of the job The post will involve working on the stroke and neurology wards at Leeds General Infirmary at middle grade level (ST4+) and participating in a 1 in 10 on call rota covering neurology admissions and inpatients. The on call pattern involves day working and non resident night shifts supported by an onsite Medical Registrar and on call neurology consultant. The applicant is expected to rotate through fixed blocks of acute neurology, ward cover, acute neurology clinics and other sub speciality clinics. They are encouraged to attend neuroradiology and weekly regional academic meetings and present interesting cases for discussion, including monthly CPC.

There will be opportunities for the successful candidate to become involved in teaching and training, both at an undergraduate and postgraduate level, to contribute to neurology research, clinical governance and quality improvement work.

Why you should join our Team The Neurosciences CSU brings together the core services providing the clinical management support for the departments of Neurology, Neurosurgery, Spinal Surgery, Stroke and Neurophysiology.

Mr Robert Rathbone is the General Manager. Dr Jonathan Bilmen is the Clinical Director and Mr Robin Darby is Head of Nursing. Dr Jeremy Cosgrove is the clinical lead for Neurology.

What you will bring to the role The successful applicant should possess MRCP (or equivalent) and should be able to manage acute medical and common neurological emergencies. You should also have experience working at registrar level.

The successful candidate will be part of 10 middle grade rota covering ward duties and on call and will be expected to do both general and sub speciality outpatient clinics.

Although this is not a training post, there will be plenty of opportunities for learning, able to take part in the departmental and educational meetings. There are also plenty of opportunities to take part in our ongoing quality improvement projects and research.

The post provide an excellent opportunity to acquire experience in managing a wide range of neurological conditions in a tertiary neurosciences centre.
