Position Title: ATHL - Event Staff

Job Description: Are you looking for a flexible part time job where you can choose your schedule? Do you enjoy supporting the Cyclones and helping provide a first-class experience at events? The Iowa State Athletics Department is hiring for Event Staff/Guest Service positions to provide exceptional customer service to patrons and enhance the experience while attending events.
Event Staff may work as an usher for a specific section at assigned events, greeting guests, helping them find their seats, responding to emergencies, and answering questions about the event or facility. Event Staff also may work at the doors, greeting guests upon arrival, providing assistance to patrons on the use of mobile ticket scanners, ensuring entry policies are met, and answering questions about the event or facility.
These positions require a focus and dedication to customer service with an ability to interact with the public effectively in a positive manner and help provide solutions for upset patrons as needed. Event staff must follow all procedures and rules of the NCAA, Big 12 Conference, and Iowa State Athletics.
Location: These positions are primarily based out of Hilton Coliseum, but employees occasionally will work at Jack Trice Stadium, Scheman Building, Lied Recreation Center, Cyclone Sports Complex, South End Zone, etc.
Schedules/Work Hours:
• Shift schedules vary based on the event schedules but primarily occur on evenings and weekends. • Most shifts are 2 hours or 4 hours in length. • Weekly to monthly work hours will vary by individual and will be sporadic. • On a monthly basis, Event Staff will be sent the upcoming event schedule and shift needs, then the Event Staff can determine for themselves which shifts they are interested in being considered for. Management will evaluate responses and staffing needs and then send out final shift assignments. • Event Staff must commit to work shifts they sign up for so that we can ensure appropriate service levels that will provide a great customer experience.
Parking: Working staff have an assigned parking area to use that is within a reasonable walking distance from the event venue.
Dress Code: Event staff wear black dress pants and black shoes (black tennis shoes are acceptable). A uniform shirt will be provided to wear at each shift during employment.
Other items to note:
• The work involves standing on concrete floors for majority of the shift, working in loud environments, and for those working at the doors it may involve hot, cold, or breezy conditions depending on the weather. • These positions are considered temporary at-will. Employees are limited to working no more than 780 hours per fiscal year. These positions are not eligible for the ISU benefits plan. • For some events, staff have the opportunity to stay and watch the event in an assigned section after their work shift concludes.
Required Minimum Qualifications: Ability to read, communicate well with others, and follow instructions.
Preferred Qualifications: Customer service experience.
Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. on an on-going basis without sponsorship. Immigration sponsorship is not available for this position.
