Key Responsibilities
Instructional Planning and Delivery
• Plan and deliver engaging, developmentally appropriate Integrated Art lessons (visual arts, music, movement, drama, and creative expression) that align with the Early Years curriculum and the school's educational philosophy. • Foster creativity, imagination, and self-expression through inquiry-based and play-based learning experiences. • Integrate art experiences across other curriculum areas to enhance students' conceptual understanding and learning. • Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse developmental, learning, and language needs of young learners. • Incorporate technology and age-appropriate resources to enrich learning experiences where appropriate. Learning Environment and Classroom Management
• Create a safe, welcoming, and stimulating environment that encourages creativity, exploration, and risk-taking. • Establish clear routines and positive behavior expectations that promote independence and self-regulation. • Ensure all art materials, tools, and learning spaces are organized, safe, and developmentally appropriate. • Maintain high standards of health and safety when using art materials and equipment.
Student Assessment and Progress Monitoring
• Observe, assess, and document children's artistic, social, emotional, and developmental progress using a variety of assessment strategies. • Use assessment data to inform planning and personalize learning experiences. • Maintain accurate records of student progress and contribute to school reporting processes. • Share student growth through portfolios, exhibitions, and classroom displays. Student Engagement and Well-being
• Inspire curiosity, confidence, and a lifelong appreciation for the arts. • Encourage collaboration, creativity, problem-solving, and communication through artistic experiences. • Recognize and celebrate each child's individual strengths, achievements, and creative development. • Support students' social and emotional well-being through positive relationships and nurturing interactions. Communication and Collaboration
• Build strong partnerships with parents by communicating student progress and celebrating achievements. • Collaborate closely with homeroom teachers to integrate art into units of inquiry and classroom learning. • Work effectively with colleagues, learning support staff, and school leadership to ensure the success of every student. • Participate actively in team planning meetings and professional learning communities. Curriculum Development and Implementation
• Contribute to the ongoing development of the Early Years Integrated Arts curriculum. • Ensure learning experiences reflect best practices in Early Childhood Education and, where applicable, the IB Primary Years Programme (PYP). • Develop meaningful learning experiences that promote creativity, inquiry, and holistic child development. • Select and maintain high-quality instructional resources and materials. • Engage in continuous professional learning through workshops, training, conferences, and collaborative inquiry. • Stay current with research and best practices in Early Childhood Education, Arts Education, and inquiry-based learning. • Reflect on teaching practices and actively seek feedback to improve professional effectiveness. • Demonstrate professionalism, integrity, and confidentiality in all aspects of the role. • Comply with school policies, safeguarding procedures, and child protection requirements. • Model the school's values and contribute positively to the school community. • Maintain high expectations for professional conduct and continuous improvement. Skills, Qualifications and Experience The successful candidate will possess and demonstrate:
• Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education, Early Years Education, Art Education, or a closely related field. • Teaching qualification with authorization to teach at the Early Years level. • Previous experience teaching Preschool or Early Years students is preferred. • Experience teaching Integrated Arts (visual arts, music, movement, drama, or creative expression) to young learners is highly desirable. • Knowledge of the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme (IB PYP) is preferred. • Demonstrated ability to create engaging, inquiry-based, and play-based learning experiences. • Understanding of child development and age-appropriate teaching practices. • Excellent classroom management and relationship-building skills with young children. • Strong communication and collaboration skills with students, parents, and colleagues. • Ability to integrate technology meaningfully into teaching and learning. • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities. • Commitment to continuous professional learning and reflective practice. • Excellent English communication skills, both written and spoken.
