About the Role
We are seeking proactive and professional Security Officers to join the 24/7 Security Service at Queen Mary University of London.
As a front-line member of the team, you will play an important role in maintaining a safe, secure and welcoming environment for our students, staff, visitors and wider campus community.
You will provide a visible and responsive security presence across the University, including patrols, incident response, support to students and staff, and assistance during emergency situations.
The role is part of a 24/7 operational Security Service and requires shift working. This includes day shifts, night shifts, weekends, public holidays and occasional changes to shift patterns to meet operational requirements.
Key responsibilities include:
Acting as a first responder to incidents, including fire alarms, intruder alarms and welfare concerns Carrying out patrols with strong awareness of safety risks and suspicious activity Supporting incident response procedures, including evacuation and lockdown arrangements Providing information, guidance and assistance to students, staff and visitors Monitoring CCTV and security systems where required Completing incident reports and maintaining accurate records

About You
We are looking for individuals who are professional, approachable and able to remain calm under pressure.
You will have experience in a customer-facing, security, facilities or public-facing role, and be confident dealing with a wide range of situations, including vulnerable individuals, challenging behaviour and emergency incidents.
You must be able and willing to work a 24/7 shift pattern, including nights, weekends and public holidays.
