About this role

The Bloomberg Applied Technology Programme is a major new initiative based at the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst. Established through a partnership between senior Army leadership and a major philanthropic institution, the Programme will help shape how military leaders understand, adopt and command in an era defined by AI, autonomy, contested information and rapid technological change. It aims to become a globally recognised centre of excellence at the intersection of technology, warfare and leadership development.

As Director, you will lead the development and delivery of the Programme, establishing its strategic direction, shaping its priorities and ensuring its long-term impact. Working closely with Army leadership and a range of partners across defence, industry and academia, you will build the Programme's reputation as a leading voice in applied technology and modern warfare.

You will oversee a broad portfolio of activity spanning leadership education, applied research, strategic partnerships and high-profile convening, ensuring the Programme delivers practical value to Sandhurst, the wider Army and allied partners.

Key Responsibilities

▪ Lead the strategic development and delivery of the Bloomberg Applied Technology Programme. ▪ Establish the Programme's operating model, governance and delivery framework. ▪ Build partnerships across Defence, industry, academia and allied military institutions. ▪ Oversee applied research and thought leadership activity. ▪ Represent the Programme nationally and internationally, building its profile and influence.

About You

We are seeking a strategic and credible leader with significant experience in defence, technology, innovation, national security or a related environment. You will have a track record of leading complex programmes, influencing senior stakeholders and translating ideas into meaningful organisational impact.
