Contract type: Fixed-term (2 years, with possible extension subject to funding)
We are recruiting an outstanding, highly motivated postdoctoral researcher to join the Liang Laboratory as an MRC PPU-funded Research Associate. You will investigate the role of ER-phagy in maintaining endoplasmic reticulum (ER) homeostasis and explore how dysregulation of this pathway contributes to human disease.
Your priorities will include:
Conducting research to uncover the molecular mechanisms regulating ER-phagy and ER homeostasis. Designing, performing, and analysing experiments using state-of-the-art molecular and cell biology approaches. Contributing to the development of research projects, manuscripts, and grant applications. Presenting research findings at lab meetings and national/international conferences. Collaborating effectively with researchers within the MRC PPU and external academic partners.
Who we're looking for:
A PhD in Molecular Biology, Cell Biology, Biochemistry, or a related discipline. A strong track record of research achievement, evidenced by at least one peer-reviewed first-author publication (or equivalent). Experience in molecular and cellular biology; experience in autophagy, organelle biology, or related areas is particularly desirable. Advantageous: experience with bioinformatics, quantitative image analysis, or large-scale omics dataset analysis. Excellent communication, organisational, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a multidisciplinary environment. Creativity, critical thinking, and a commitment to scientific excellence.

The MRC PPU is one of the world's leading centres for research on protein phosphorylation and ubiquitylation, based within the Faculty of Life Sciences at the University of Dundee. Many world-leading researchers in signal transduction have trained here.
