The Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology & Neuroscience (IoPPN) is a Faculty of King's College London and the largest academic community in Europe devoted to the study and prevention of mental illness and brain disease.
The School of Mental Health & Psychological Sciences (MHaPS) is one of three schools under the IoPPN, comprised of the four departments of Psychology, Social, Genetic & Developmental Psychiatry (SGDP), Health Service & Population Research (HSPR), and Biostatistics & Health Informatics (BHI). Our internationally renowned research encompasses developmental science across the lifespan and integrates basic research with the design, evaluation, and implementation of evidence‑based treatments, services, and policy.
This role offers an opportunity for an academic clinical psychologist with strong research and clinical experience to join the Doctorate in Clinical Psychology (DClinPsy) programme within the Department of Psychology at the Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology & Neuroscience, King’s College London (IoPPN-KCL).
About the role:
It is a part-time (0.4 FTE) fixed term (12 months maternity leave cover) Course Tutor position, based at the Denmark Hill Campus. The post-holder will be part of the DClinPsy programme team, and the ideal candidate will bring strong clinical and research expertise, with a commitment to high‑quality teaching, training and research supervision.
The role involves supporting trainees to develop research at a doctorate level and contributing to the management of trainee research especially in relation to the research curriculum and assessments.
You will also contribute to programme delivery by working closely with the academic team to support curriculum delivery, assessment and feedback processes, trainee progression, and progress monitoring. There are opportunities to be involved in other aspects of the training programme, including teaching in your area of expertise.
About you:
To be successful in this role, we are looking for candidates to have the following skills and experience:
Essential criteria
Professional qualification in Clinical Psychology (DClinPsy or equivalent). Registration as a Practitioner Psychologist with Health Care & Professions Council (HCPC) and post-qualification clinical experience, working under supervision. Experience of academic teaching and mentoring of PhD/DClinPsy students, contributing to the training of postdoctoral clinical psychologists. Ability to contribute to the department through clinical teaching and research excellence. Ability to supervise high quality DClinPsy/PhD research dissertations to completion
Desirable criteria
PhD in topic relevant to Clinical Psychology Ability to produce internationally excellent scientific outputs. BABCP qualification
