About this role

Salary: £59,000 - 74,000 per year

Requirements: Hands-on experience in Python and a web development framework such as Django, plus JavaScript/TypeScript, ideally in cloud environments such as AWS, Azure or GCP.Strong understanding of core software engineering principles.Experience with CI/CD pipelines, automated testing and version control.Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.Ability to work effectively in a cross-functional team.Willingness to learn new tools, technologies and domain knowledge.Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or equivalent professional experience. We are a delivery team in Birmingham city centre, working on critical digital systems that support our mission to help the UK achieve Net Zero by 2050. Our digital platform underpins workflow automation, forecasting engines, calculation services, contract and task management, analytics dashboards and data portals. This is a permanent role with a salary of circa £70,000 depending on experience, a 37.5-hour week, and a flexible working policy that includes attendance in the office two days per week. We also offer a variety of flexible work patterns subject to line manager discretion, such as a compressed 9-day fortnight. The role reports to our Software Engineering Manager and involves collaborating closely with Senior Engineers, Product, QA, DevOps, UX/UI, Principal Engineer and Architects as you build your technical capability and take on increasing autonomy.
