Requirements: Experience in systems analysis and designing new applications and enhancements to existing applications.Experience in requirements capture.Experience in business modelling using process flows and entity modelling with UML.Ability to use prototyping or mock-ups where appropriate.Experience capturing and documenting non-functional requirements.Knowledge of impact analysis.Experience producing detailed specifications that enable development implementation.Knowledge of Agile or iterative development methodologies.Ability to work with Team Foundation Server to create user stories, tasks, and groom backlogs.Good estimation skills and ability to work with developers to create development estimates, for example in poker planning sessions.Good SQL and database design skills.Experience with structured test plans and execution, including on unfamiliar systems.Experience assessing third-party tools or software and carrying out gap analysis.Experience across the full systems development lifecycle from inception to support.Knowledge of service-oriented architecture and domain driven design would be an advantage.Exposure to project management.Experience in the media industry, especially broadcasting, would be a distinct advantage.Knowledge of composable architecture and microservices would be an advantage.Experience in cloud technologies, AWS and/or Azure.Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present ideas verbally and in writing.Ability to communicate technical information to a non-technical audience.Strong customer-facing skills.Experience dealing with third parties in addressing business developments.Experience of medium-to-large multi-user systems.Strong analysis, investigative, and attention to detail skills.Ability to handle conflicting opinions and build consensus.Flexible and adaptable, with the ability to perform well in a fast-changing environment.Self-motivated and capable of working autonomously.Ability to work harmoniously and effectively within a team.Ability to make design decisions with support from Architecture, Development, and Testing teams. Responsibilities: Work with Business Analysts and end users to understand project aims, requirements, and priorities.Develop an understanding of business processes, including strengths and weaknesses.Assess the impact of meeting requirements on the applications portfolio.Identify design options, assess them, and recommend the most appropriate solution.Work closely with Architecture, Development, and Testing teams to ensure effective implementation of the chosen design.Assess the success of the design against requirements after deployment and learn from the experience.Contribute to prioritisation and phasing plans in liaison with the Project Manager.Help the Project Manager run development using Agile frameworks.Facilitate estimation sessions to help plan and cost new work.Test or help test applications and system changes when required.Take part in inter-team design initiatives and share knowledge with other Systems Analysts to keep work across systems coherent.Identify and act on wider business issues that should be reported back to the IS department, including audit considerations. We are offering a 5-month contract Systems Analyst role, operating inside IR35, with a rate of up to £600 per day. The position is based in London with a hybrid working model requiring 2 to 3 days onsite. We work within the media industry and partner closely with IS Project Managers, Business Analysts, Developers, Testers, end users, and wider technical teams to deliver coherent, well-designed solutions across our applications portfolio.
