Role overview We are looking for an experienced Technical Assistance Director to lead the development of a bespoke technical assistance approach for Impact Fund Denmark. We manage multiple technical assistance facilities amounting to more than DKK 100 million. In this role, you will contribute to a strategically important area of the business, as these facilities help deliver both the impact and commercial objectives of our investments and are instrumental to achieving Impact Fund Denmark’s mission. The role is cross-cutting across the organisation and requires engagement with a diverse range of external stakeholders, including the Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the European Commission. The team The Technical Assistance Director will be based at our headquarters in Copenhagen and will sit within Impact Fund Denmark’s Sustainability & Impact team. The Sustainability & Impact team is an integral part of the Investment organisation, bringing together ESG specialists who support transaction teams and topical experts who integrate sustainability and impact throughout the investment process. You will report to the Managing Director of Sustainability & Impact. The role does currently not have any direct reports. The job As Technical Assistance Director, you will lead Impact Fund Denmark’s technical assistance programme by developing and implementing a bespoke approach and operating model aligned with organisational priorities as well as relevant European and international standards. Develop and implement Impact Fund Denmark’s technical assistance framework and approach, including priority setting and stakeholder engagement. Define and embed a process for the development and implementation of technical assistance activities within Impact Fund Denmark’s investment process, including relevant tools and guidance for internal teams and investees. Identify opportunities for programmatic and thematic technical assistance initiatives that support more efficient deployment of funds, including collaboration with external stakeholders and peer DFIs. Coordinate the development of new technical assistance projects and build a strong pipeline in collaboration with investees, colleagues and other stakeholders, including needs identification, proposal development, market consultation and legal review. Monitor the portfolio of existing technical assistance projects in close collaboration with investees and internal colleagues, including project oversight and portfolio-level results tracking for internal and external reporting. Design and help secure future technical assistance facilities in collaboration with internal colleagues, the Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs and other external funding partners, including defining facility priorities and developing budgets. Qualifications and experience The ideal candidate thrives in a demanding environment and combines drive and independence with a collaborative and team-oriented approach. Minimum requirements 5+ years of relevant experience in technical assistance implementation and grant management within a development finance institution, multilateral development bank, international financial institution, foundation, development organisation or similar institution. Master’s degree in economics, finance, management, international development or another relevant field. Demonstrated experience with project management and data management systems. Preferred qualifications Academic background in ESG, sustainability or sustainable development. Technical knowledge of sustainability and impact, including climate, gender, human rights and ESG risk management. Experience working in international contexts, ideally in emerging and developing markets. Experience with public tendering processes. Personal competencies A collaborative team player who is comfortable working in an international environment and able to combine a proactive mindset with an operational, hands-on approach. Strong stakeholder management, communication and negotiation skills. A strong interest in sustainable development and a genuine commitment to Impact Fund Denmark’s mission. Fluency in spoken and written English. Willingness to travel in emerging and developing markets.
