We are looking to recruit an experienced radiotherapy engineer to lead the engineering team at Mount Vernon Cancer Centrewho shares our vision to be trusted to provide consistently outstanding care and exemplary service to our patients.

You will work closely with the multi-professional team to improve patient treatments through the application of cutting-edge techniques and the latest radiotherapy technology.
The department has 4 TrueBeams, 2 Halcyon and a Ethos and are a Varian reference site for brachytherapy and Identify.
You will receive a High CostArea Supplementof15% of basic salary,subject to a minimum payment of £4,314 and a maximum payment of £5,436 pro rata per annum.

Main duties of the job
The post-holder will manage all aspects of the Radiotherapy Engineering Service to keep unplanned downtime and disruption of patient's radiotherapy treatment to a minimum. The department maintains a wide range of highly specialized, complex, patient critical equipment. The engineer must therefore be able to work to high standard of safety and be accountable.
The post holder must be able to communication well between Radiotherapy staff, Radiotherapy Physics teams and commercial manufacturers.
There is a collaborative service contract with Varian. The post holder will be expected to ensure that in-house maintenance, servicing, and repair of a equipment within Radiotherapy, Radiation Protection, Physics and medical equipment is performed at appropriate frequencies and to a high standard.
This post will include the training of junior engineers through apprenticeship or alternative routes.
The post holder is responsible for the maintenance and improvement of the Quality System as applied to engineering.
The post holder manage engineers working in the cancer centre including those working in EBME and mechanical engineering services.

Qualifications / Training Essential
BSc Hons Clinical Technology or equivalent (e.g. HND, HNC, City and Guilds) Training Knowledge of specialist and advance procedure acquired through manufacturers' on radiotherapy equipment
Desirable
Registered Clinical Technologist (or on the voluntary register). Incorporated Status with registered Engineering Council UK professional body
Previous Experience Essential
Proven experience in electronic engineering. Highly developed specialist knowledge of Radiotherapy Linear Accelerators. Knowledge of procedures relating to servicing, repair and Quality Assurance in the areas of radiotherapy technologies Proven experience in radiotherapy engineering: RF, Vacuum, Pneumatics Installation and commissioning Radiotherapy equipment
Desirable
Varian training course attendance:TM1&2 for TrueBeam and Halcyon Multi-disciplinary working experience. Procurement experience
Skills Essential
Highly complex fault diagnosis and rectification skills and ability to communicate with other professional groups including manufacturers Strong leadership and ability to motivate others Excellent interpersonal and negotiation skills Teaching and training skills Highly skilled in standard computer applications (Excel, Word, Access, etc) to maintain technical services records, to produce reports, spreadsheets and other documents and to extract detailed information.
