Term: Part-time (Up to 0.88 FTE); Fixed Term (01 September 2026 – 31 May 2027)
Salary Range: Teaching Assistant (G6) £37,960 to £41,461, progressing to £42,701 for 1.0 FTE once in post. Pro rata for agreed FTE (up to 0.88 FTE).

The role
Northeastern University London invites applications for a Teaching Assistant in Physics. The appointee will support teaching of Level 4 (first year undergraduate) Physics courses.
Appointments will be commensurate with experience and qualifications reflecting a record of demonstrated ability to support teaching.
Core duties include:
Lead laboratory sessions, under the guidance and/or supervision of subject expert faculty, in Classical Mechanics and Electromagnetism, covering topics including mechanics, motion, energy, electrical circuits, oscillations and wave phenomena Support students during lab sessions, recitation sessions, or both Assist with equipment set-up and tear-down during lab sessions, as required Complete required training, and attend coordination meetings Respond to or forward student queries, as appropriate

Qualifications
Master’s degree, or equivalent professional experience, in a relevant area PhD completed, or near completion, or equivalent professional experience, in a relevant area (desirable) AFHEA status, or equivalent, achieved or expected (desirable)
Key Criteria
Core knowledge of Classical Mechanics and Electromagnetism, covering topics in mechanics, motion, energy, electrical circuits, oscillations and waves. Demonstrates, through evidence, ability to be adaptable, innovative, and inclusive in assisting teaching lab sessions. Ability to provide excellent, personalised support to students in a lab-based setting. Flexibility and capacity to support course leaders in providing excellent educational provision to students, including opportunities for experiential learning. Excellent written and verbal interpersonal and communication skills including presentation skills, both face-to-face and online Excellent IT skills and evidence of supporting the integration of technologies into learning and teaching. About the Faculty
The Faculty of Computing, Mathematics, Engineering, and Natural Sciences (CoMENS) is undergoing significant growth at Northeastern University London.
