The Role

We are looking to recruit a suitably experienced Receptionist and Administrator to provide an efficient reception and administrative service for Kenilworth School and Sixth Form.

As a first point of contact for the school, the successful candidate must have excellent customer care skills and be organised to multi-task on a busy reception. The postholder will work with a second Receptionist on front of house.

The reception is busy and the workload is varied, so the ideal candidate will be organised to manage and prioritise their own workload, meeting deadlines with the ability to work calmly with interruptions to assist students’/parents’/carers’ throughout the day.

Previous experience of customer care and/or reception duties in another setting would be advantageous, but training can be given to a suitable candidate.

You will be IT literate with the ability to use Microsoft packages, to include Word, Excel and data bases. The ability to manage your own workload and meet deadlines is required.

Typical duties will include:

Managing a busy switchboard, channelling calls as appropriate

Operation of the external main gates

Welcoming visitors, parents and students dealing with a range of queries

Managing contractors for DBS and safeguarding compliance

Processing external and internal post and parcel deliveries

Daily management of the school’s email system

Various administrative duties using email, Word, Excel and an internal database

Dealing with students’ queries throughout the day, as required at the designated student enquiry point in reception

Undertaking administrative duties

The role requires the post-holder to be pro-active to plan ahead; have an attention to detail; have good communication and written skills across a range of audiences with the ability to work with interruptions throughout the day.

Working Hours

The working hours with an unpaid 30 minute lunchbreak are:

Monday to Wednesday: 8.15am to 4.15pm

Thursday and Friday: 8.15am to 4pm

There may be a requirement to work on inset days as agreed.
