About this role
Under close supervision, performs phlebotomy, processes specimens, handles client inquiries, conducts waived testing, and contributes to pre-analytic laboratory tasks. Will be required to float to different locations as needed. Schedule: Monday-Friday from 8am-5pm Location: Hill country clinic
• Performs venipuncture and capillary puncture to collect blood specimens from patients. • Receives and accessions specimens into the laboratory information system (LIS). • Prepares and aliquots specimens for various laboratory tests according to established protocols. • Monitors and maintains appropriate inventory levels of laboratory supplies. • Provides information regarding specimen collection, test requisitions, and laboratory procedures. • Addresses inquiries and concerns; escalates complex issues to the appropriate personnel. • Ensures compliance with all applicable quality control and quality assurance measures. • Assists in the preparation and setup of laboratory equipment and instruments. • Ensures the proper handling and transportation of specimens within the laboratory. • Perform other duties as assigned
• Ability to answer incoming calls from clients, healthcare professionals, and patients. • Knowledge on how to label, document, and prepare collected specimens for transport to the laboratory. • Ability to verify the accuracy of patient information and specimen labeling. • Knowledge of recording and maintaining accurate documentation of waived test results. • Ability to collaborate with laboratory staff to maintain a clean and organized work environment. • Knowledge of relevant laboratory safety and infection control protocols. • Familiarity with laboratory information systems (LIS) is an asset. • Ability to work independently and as part of a team. EDUCATION:
• High school diploma or GED is required. • Completion of a certified phlebotomy program is preferred.
