This is a permanent role for 18 hours per week over 3 days.

The Support Administrator will work with the Senior Operations Manager and Practice Nurse Team Lead, to support the smooth running of the practice with regards to purchasing medical supplies and general support duties. This role is fundamental in ensuring that each surgery can operate efficiently and effectively.

The successful candidate will be IT literate, a good communicator, be accurate in their work with strong attention to detail and accuracy. They will be able to handle confidential information and be able to work with complete integrity. They must be motivated and have a willingness to learn as part of a hardworking team, but also be comfortable working independently without constant supervision.

Main duties of the job

Pathology ordering- Liaising with the Practice Nurses and ordering all Pathology items that are needed for each site. Pathology items are ordered from the Pathology Department at RBBH on a regular basis. Single Use Instruments and Dressing ordering from external supplies- creating the order forms, ensuring Finance has all purchase order codes, chasing up non-delivered items and answering queries from Finance re stock ordered/received if necessary. Comparing prices from external companies and being able to negotiate. Drug & Vaccine Ordering-liaising with clinicians and learning what drugs are currently ordered, ordering the drugs, improving the recording of drug ordering and passing on the relevant paperwork to all parties involved. This includes ordering the flu vaccination on an annual basis.

Job description Job responsibilities

Keeping accurate figures of what is ordered and distributing stock to the sites as required. Six monthly stock checks will be carried out by the Support Administrator with the assistance of the HCA team. Working with other NHS bodies (such as the Medicines Management Team) with regards to what clinical items can be used in primary care. Ordering one off equipment as directed by the medical team. Ordering of cleaning supplies. Ordering diabetic supplies.General office duties (phone cover, queries)Surveys organising & collating (Drs, PNs, other clinical)
