Job summary
East Leicester Medical Practice is seeking to recruit a new patient advisor(s) to join our friendly team. The Practice is located within the inner city and serves a population size of approximately 12,000 patients.
The successful candidate will have excellent communication skills and be dynamic in their working to be able deal with the challenges of General Practice. The ideal candidate will be flexible, organised and able to work under pressure. Though, experience would be beneficial it is not essential as training would be provided. The Practice has a few vacancies ranging from full time and part time so hours can be negotiated
Main duties of the job
Receive all patients and deal with their queries
Receive incoming telephone calls / face to face contact and arrange appointments
Receive all visitors and arrange contact with the relevant staff to ensure that they receive appropriate attention
aid with the administration of prescription issuing, managing patient documentation, dealing with insurances request
to aid the GP practice to rely messages to patients
complete office administration
About us
We have a list size of 12,000 patients. There is a good mix of social classes and a rich diversity of ethnic groups with Asians making up 25% of the practice population. We have 3 nursing/residential home.
We are situated very close to Leicester General hospital with the Leicester Royal Infirmary and its Casualty department about 2 miles away. Glenfield to the north of the city is the other major hospital which serves our population.
The practice has a large MDT approach , we have 3 partners who all have their individual administrative portfolios , 3 members of the management team. we are a practice who actively take part in research and teaching and training.
Job description Job responsibilities
RECEPTION / ADMINISTRATION DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Receive all patients and arrange either an appointment or contact with the relevant clinical staff to ensure that they receive appropriate attention
2. Attend to simple routine patient and clinical staff queries, seeking advice from team leaders or medical staff when appropriate
3. Receive incoming telephone calls and arrange appointments in accordance with practice procedures
4. Receive all visitors and arrange contact with the relevant staff to ensure that they receive appropriate attention
5. File all letters and test results electronically in accordance with practice procedures
6. To develop the ability to perform electronic tasks to keep patient records accurate and up to date in accordance with practice procedure when required
7. File all patient records in accordance with practice systems and procedures
8. Extract patient records to ensure appropriate staff have case history available
9. Extract patient records when requested.
10. Ensure change of patients details correctly input into the computer and the notes are amended accordingly.
11. To arrange transport for patients as requested in accordance with practice procedures
12. To obtain a basic working knowledge of the clinical computer system to enable the process of appointments in accordance with practice procedures
13. To develop the ability to fully understand a patients needs/ concerns so that they can be dealt with efficiently & courteously
14. To develop the ability to identify patient needs and meet their expectations
15. To maintain a pleasant tidy and safe reception area to benefit patients and comply with Health and Safety legislation
GENERAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. To develop the ability to work co-operatively with others and be part of the team.

5. To have an awareness of practice security/fire procedure/ Health and safety and to carry them out in accordance with practice procedure when required
6. Any other administrative duties as required and agreed with by the practice
GENERAL TERMS AND CONDITIONS

2. A review of all employees individual contribution and future requirements for training and development will be carried out on an annual basis. Throughout the year interim review dates will be set for progress to be discussed and monitored
