Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a full-time Support Administrator to join the Medical Secretarial Team within Royal Surrey Cancer Centre at the Royal Surrey County Hospital. The Trust is delighted to invite an experienced administrator to join our friendly and motivated team.

You will be joining our team of Oncologists, Specialist Registrars, Specialty Doctors, SHOs, AHP's and Specialist Nurses. The Oncology division puts patients at the heart of everything we strive to deliver and achieve.

The division has recently completed its £6+ million expansion and refurbishment project of the outpatient areas to improve and modernise the overall patient experience, increase the centre's footfall and provide spaces that better serve patient privacy and dignity.

Main duties of the job

We are looking for someone who is engaged and experienced in patient administration to join our busy and forward thinking Oncology division. The role will require working within our wider Medical Secretary team, supporting the division with providing a high quality administrative services.We are looking for someone who has excellent communication and organisational skill, with a good understanding of IT systems

Job description Job responsibilities

The post holder will contribute to the efficient running of the administrative service within Oncology. The role will involve directly supporting the Medical Secretary team with essential tasks to enable the smooth running of the department.

The role will involve ensuring timely uploading of patient documentation onto Millennium EPR efficiently and effectively.

The role will require the post holder to provide sickness and annual leave cover to the Medical Secretary team, with support from the Medical Secretary Team Leader.

The post holder will be responsible for working independently and managing workload, being able to demonstrate efficient organisation, ensuring all aspects of office support are covered.

Person Specification

Qualifications Essential

Good general standard of education to GCSE level or equivalent

Desirable

RSA II or equivalent in word processing/audio typing RSA III, Medical secretarial qualification (BSMS Certificate) or equivalent

Knowledge Essential

Demonstrates the ability to prioritise workload and to adapt effectively to changing priorities Experience of MS Office and associated Software

Desirable

Experience of assisting in mentoring, training or supervising others
