At Cancer Research UK, we exist to beat cancer. We are professionals with purpose, beating cancer every day. But we need to go much further and much faster. That’s why we’re looking for someone talented, someone innovative and ambitious, someone like you.

At Cancer Research UK, our marketing, fundraising and engagement activity is most effective when it is rooted in a deep understanding of what matters to our audiences. That's where the Consumer Insight and Experience (CIX) team comes in.

We're looking for a Consumer Insight and Experience Manager to join our Data, Insight and Performance (DIP) directorate on an 8-month fixed-term contract covering an internal secondment. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced researcher to play a pivotal role in ensuring decisions across Marketing, Fundraising and Engagement (MFE) are informed by robust consumer insight and a strong understanding of audience needs, motivations and experiences.

Working alongside the Senior Managers in the Consumer Insight and Experience team, you'll lead insight projects to understand the attitudes and behaviors of our audiences and translate insight into actionable recommendations to inform proposition development and strategies.

You'll combine strong research expertise with excellent stakeholder management skills, and ability to translate evidence into compelling recommendations that influence decision-making across the organisation.

If you're passionate about uncovering what matters most to audiences, and helping an organisation make smarter, more audience-centric decisions, we'd love to hear from you.

What will I be doing?

As Consumer Insight and Experience Manager, you'll manage and deliver a range of qualitative and quantitative research projects, ensuring stakeholders have the insight they need to make informed decisions.

You'll:

• Manage primary and secondary insight research projects, including commissioning market research agencies, establishing clear project objectives, managing project timelines, and overseeing costs and data quality checks to ensure projects deliver robust and actionable research findings

• Carry out end-to-end market research projects in-house, managing development of research materials, sampling, analysis and report writing

• Develop strong relationships with internal stakeholders, working closely with them to understand their insight requirements and ambitions, and providing guidance on the most appropriate insight projects or programmes of work to meet their goals.

• Collaborate across Data, Insight and Performance teams to provide joined up delivery and understanding of insight

• Work as part of the Consumer Insight and Experience team to manage the package of insight products and tools (including tracking programmes and Supporter Panel) ensuring the value of these tools is optimised.

What are we looking for?

You’ll bring:

• Extensive experience of using quantitative and qualitative market research techniques to drive actionable insight

• Significant experience of insight project delivery including writing briefs with clear, agreed objectives and delivering actionable outputs

• Collaborative working style with excellent stakeholder management skills, demonstrating the ability to engage, influence and negotiate at all levels

• Consumer focused and outward looking, with a strategic and analytical mindset and ability to identify broad themes from data

• Strong communication skills with the ability to communicate insight effectively to colleagues of all levels in both formal and informal environments

• Proven experience of agency management

• Excellent project management and planning skills with ability to prioritise workload and manage ambiguity

• Strong core market research skills including survey writing & discussion guide development and relevant experience of data analysis (Excel) and data charting (PowerPoint). Experience of using SPSS an advantage

Our organisation values are designed to guide all that we do.

Act with ambition, courage and determination Credible: Act with rigour and professionalism Human: Act to have a positive impact on people Together: Act inclusively and collaboratively

What will I gain?

We create a working environment that supports your wellbeing and provide a generous benefits package, a wide range of career and personal development opportunities and high-quality tools.
