Job Title Lead Civil Operations Clerk - CPay Rate Min to Mid Range $19.99 - $23.49Time Type Full timeSummary Duties and Responsibilities:
• Assists in training the Civil Operations Clerks and Senior Civil Operations Clerks
• Retrieves and processes electronic and fax filings
• Receives and maintains abstract of judgments and executions
• Processes and maintains Affidavit of Inability docket
• Issues service of process on civil lawsuits
• Prepares and monitors notice of appeal and transfer of venue files
• Performs data entry
• Serves as back up for the Civil Operations Clerks and the Senior Civil Operations Clerks
• Performs other duties as required
Minimum Qualifications:
• High School or General Education Development (GED) certificate and four (4) years general office experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience
• Good knowledge of basic legal terminology; knowledge of basic office procedures
• Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations. Ability to understand and apply appropriate statutes and codes; ability to accurately enter data; ability to communicate with diverse groups of individuals utilizing tact and diplomacy; ability to understand and follow instructions; ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing; ability to operate a personal computer, 10 key-adding machine, typewriter and basic office equipment; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, other County employees, attorneys, outside organizations and the public
• Acts in the name of the District Clerk and shall perform all official acts as may be lawfully done and performed by such Clerk in person, pursuant to Section 51.303 of the government code
• Must be bondable
• Must have legible penmanship
• Must secure and maintain a favorable background investigation and clearance
• Must clear a pre-employment physical and a pre-employment drug screen test
• May be required to work more than 40 hours during the workweek
Working Environment and Physical Demands:
• Working conditions are primarily in an office environment
• Frequently moves items weighing up to 20 pounds
• Occasionally moves about the office
• Frequently communicates with others; must be able to exchange accurate information
• Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery
• Positions self to perform essential functions
• Must be able to remain in a stationary position
