About this role

General Description:

Responsible for managing the financial operations, compliance, and strategic growth of pre-owned vehicle lending, often within a large dealership group, financial institution, or captive finance company. This role entails supporting the Director of Finance by overseeing loan originations, portfolio performance, and maintaining relationships with lenders and dealer partners. Additional responsible for overseeing the strategy, operations, and liquidation of repossessed or returned assets (primarily vehicles, but also equipment or property) to maximize recovery value. Key Responsibilities:

• Strategic Leadership & Planning: Develop and execute strategies to increase CPO financing penetration rates and profitability. • Operational Oversight: Manage day-to-day operations of the CPO finance department, including loan structuring, and funding. • Strategic Oversight: Develop and implement strategies to maximize return on assets, reduce turnaround time, and minimize inventory costs. • Asset Management & Liquidation: Oversee the entire remarketing process, including repossession, vehicle redemption, and final sale of inventory. • Vendor Management: Manage relationships with auction houses, repossession agents, and other third-party vendors, monitoring their performance and negotiating contracts. • Compliance & Risk Management: Ensure strict adherence to consumer finance laws, state regulations, and the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA). • Lender Relationships: Maintain and expand relationships with third-party lenders and manufacturer captive finance divisions to secure competitive financing options. • Team Management: Train, mentor, and lead finance managers (F&I staff), setting performance targets and monitoring KPIs, such as income per unit and penetration rates. • Process Optimization: Drive efficiency in the contracting process and implement digital transformation initiatives to streamline vehicle funding. • Reporting & Analysis: Prepare financial reports, dashboards, and performance metrics to analyze trends and inform executive decision-making

Skills and Qualifications:

• Experience: 5-8+ years of progressive experience in automotive finance, including CPO or used car lending, with at least 3-4 years in a management or supervisory role. • Education: Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field; a Master’s degree (MBA) is preferred. • Skills: Strong analytical, leadership, and communication skills, with proficiency in dealership management systems (DMS) (e.g., CDK, Reynolds & Reynolds) and CRM tools. • Knowledge: In-depth understanding of F&I products, lending regulations, and, to a lesser extent, inventory management. Deep understanding of the end-to-end credit lifecycle, repossessions, and asset recovery. •
