QinetiQ Target Systems (QTS) is a wholly owned subsidiary of QinetiQ Group, specialising in the design and manufacture of world-leading Unmanned Aerial and Surface Target Systems, including the Banshee platform, used by defence customers in over 40 countries worldwide. The Role As an Electronics Design Engineer, you’ll play a key part in designing, developing and supporting electronic systems for a family of unmanned target vehicles used in live trials and operational training environments. Day-to-day, you’ll work closely with mechanical and software engineers in a factory-based, in-house environment, contributing to both new product development and the ongoing support of established platforms. Essential experience of the Electronics Design Engineer: <ul> <li style="line-height:115%">Experience working in, or exposure to, an electronics design or development environment</li> <li style="line-height:115%">A good understanding of analogue and/or digital electronic design principles, appropriate to your level</li> <li style="line-height:115%">Ability to produce clear, structured technical reports and design documentation, or a willingness to develop this skill</li> <li style="line-height:115%">Comfortable working as part of a multi-disciplinary engineering team, collaborating with others to deliver solutions</li> <li style="line-height:115%">Experience using electronic test and measurement equipment, or practical hands-on exposure gained through work, study or projects</li> </ul> Essential qualifications for the Electronics Design Engineer: <ul> <li style="line-height:115%">Degree in Electronics Engineering or a related discipline, or equivalent industry experience</li> <li style="line-height:115%">Willingness to work towards professional development and continuous learning</li> </ul> We value difference and we don’t have a fixed idea when it comes to background or education. Hybrid working patterns are available (minimum 2 days onsite, flexibility offered). Occasional international travel to trials and test sites will be expected. This role is based at QinetiQ’s Ashford site, home to QinetiQ Target Systems. The facility combines design, manufacturing, testing and trials support, offering engineers the opportunity to see products through the full lifecycle, from concept and design to live operational use.
