Our offerings give you the opportunity to:</p> <ul> <li>Earn competitive weekly pay</li> <li>Gain hands-on experience on real projects</li> <li>Develop in-demand skills through mentorship and PCL’s College of Construction</li> <li>Build connections through inclusive student events and networking events</li> <li>Follow clear career pathways to full-time roles — more than 150 students hired last year</li> </ul> <p> </p> <p>Join us as a <strong>Health, Safety, and Environment Student Intern</strong><strong> </strong>for our <strong>Hawaii</strong> district, within our <strong>US Buildings </strong>sector for <strong>three to four months starting May 2027.</strong> Depending on your assigned project as a <strong>Health, Safety, and Environment Student Intern</strong>, you will have the opportunity to contribute to our team by:</p><div><div style="padding:10.0px 0.0px;border:1.0px solid transparent"><div style="font-size:14.0px;word-wrap:break-word"><H2 style="font-size:1.0em;margin:0.0px"><b>Responsibilities</b></H2> </div><div><ul style="list-style-type:disc"> <li>Gathers/reviews/distributes safety-related statistical information.</li> <li>Monitors site-specific programs/requirements/compliance.</li> <li>Recognizes and follows PCL and local legislative requirements.</li> <li>Anticipates questions based on experience, knowledge, and understanding of client needs.</li> <li>Conceptually visualizes a completed project or project component (e.g., generator installation process).</li> <li>Recognizes behaviors, conditions, and activities that can adversely affect health.</li> <li>Interprets simple work sequences.</li> <li>Liaises effectively with project and field management.</li> <li>Applies basic knowledge of behavioral concepts.</li> <li>Interprets, communicates, and reinforces project safety standards to workforce.</li> <li>Other duties as required.</li> </ul></div></div><div style="padding:10.0px 0.0px;border:1.0px solid transparent"><div style="font-size:14.0px;word-wrap:break-word"><H2 style="font-size:1.0em;margin:0.0px"><b>Qualifications</b></H2> </div><div><ul style="list-style-type:disc"> <li>Working toward Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Occupational Health and Safety or a related area of study. </li> <li>A desire to pursue a career as a HSE professional.</li> <li>18 years of age or older and possesses a valid Driver&apos;s License.</li> <li>Knowledge of applicable OH&amp;S, environmental legislation and HSE processes.</li> <li>Effective verbal and written communication and presentation skills.</li> <li>Ability to learn construction processes and terminology. </li> <li>A strong aptitude for adopting new technology.</li> <li>Must be able to navigate through a construction site on a daily basis and climb ladders and stairs.</li> <li>Must be able to work around and near heavy equipment, cranes, and other construction equipment.</li> <li>Employment with PCL is contingent upon passing a background check, a physical, and a substance abuse test each conducted by a third party.</li> </ul></div></div></div><p><strong>Next Step:</strong> </p> <ul> <li>Please note that candidates selected to move forward will receive an email to complete a short online video interview</li> </ul> <p> </p> <p>The estimated hourly pay range for this role is between $28 and $33, based on your experience and qualifications.
