Role Description We currently have a vacancy for a QS / Estimator team member in our Dublin based Costing Unit. This unit supports the cost-effective delivery of capital and revenue work programmes within ESB Networks. The team’s role is to ensure that appropriate standardised costing units are developed and maintained to allow planned work to be costed and financed realistically, across for the full range Transmission projects & programmes in PR6. It supports short, medium and long term costing of projects; review the costings for all major projects prior to their receiving capital approval; provides standardised costing information for use by ESBN/EirGrid on cost planning of capital projects. Develops and maintains Unit Costs for use by Allowance Owners & Network Planners in Price Review submission to CRU, support to Finance and Regulation team when agreeing standard customer charges CRU. The role features considerable interaction with the Programme Team, Asset Managers, Designers, Project Leaders and Network Planners. The current vacancy requires someone with a strong understanding of unit cost estimating; and developing & reviewing unit costs for construction, civils and electrical works. The potential candidates should have a proven track as a QS/Estimator, with a commercial background and strong analytical skillset - ideally with a good general knowledge and understanding of electrical system. Key Responsibilities <ul> <li style="line-height:normal;font-size:10.0pt;font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif;color:black">Lead the Transmission costing functions within the team and be responsible for reporting on Transmission related project costs</li> <li style="line-height:normal;font-size:10.0pt;font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif;color:black">Maintain the cost accuracy of the suite of Transmission Standard Development Costs (TSDC’s), to ensure correct costs inform delivery decision options at planning & development stage. </li> <li style="line-height:normal;font-size:10.0pt;font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif;color:black">Update and develop additional unit cost estimates to assure alignment with delivery strategy</li> <li style="line-height:normal;font-size:10.0pt;font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif;color:black">Working closely with the Transmission Project Delivery Team, to ensure that projects are costed and processed through the CA process to meet the key milestone delivery dates </li> <li style="line-height:normal;font-size:10.0pt;font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif;color:black">Liaising with key stakeholders in EirGrid to provide accurate unit / project costs estimates for use on all project types; and support the development of project specific estimates, and non-standard cost requests and bespoke hi-level estimates. </li> <li style="line-height:normal;font-size:10.0pt;font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif;color:black">Co-ordinate and review the project cost inputs on all Transmission project Capital Approvals; liaising with multiple stakeholders across design, civils, electrical, telecoms and commissioning to ensure the full project scope has been captured in the final Capital Approval estimates. </li> <li style="line-height:normal;font-size:10.0pt;font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif;color:black">Mange the inputs of costs into SAP IWM / FMIS System for financial management, material ordering and post-CA project delivery </li> <li style="line-height:normal;font-size:10.0pt;font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif;color:black">On completion of the final CA costs, carry out a variance analysis, identify main cost variances, reasons and type etc. in comparison to the previous costs estimates (based on TSDC’s);
