About this role

Job summary

This is a Band 6, full time, fixed term position for 12 months, working within the Children and Young People's Mental Health Services (CYPMHS) Crisis Team. We will consider applications for a band 5 - 6 progression for newly qualified staff.

Applicants must be a registered clinician with a Trust recognised professional body.

You will require experience of working in mental health services, ideally with young people and families, and will have an understanding of the kinds of mental health presentations experienced by young people and know how to formulate care packages around their needs.

You will be confident in undertaking risk assessments and safety plans with young people who present in an emergency, and you will be required to undertake all aspects of work within the Crisis Team e.g. emergency assessments, urgent assessments, undertaking liaison work and supporting the Crisis Call Line.

You will be responsible for supervising junior members of staff and will understand the benefits of working as part of an established multi-disciplinary team (MDT).

The Crisis Team operates 7 days per week, 365 days a year between the hours of 8am and 8pm.

Main duties of the job

The team work shifts over 7 days.

You will participate in coordinating a shift when you are on rota to do so.

You will undertake a variety of emergency and urgent assessments according to clinical need on any given day.

You will participate in daily MDT planning meetings.

You will be provided with a clinical supervision framework including individual and group supervision and you may be required to supervise non-registered staff.

You will independently undertake clinical risk assessments and formulate management plans for young people and families in a crisis situation.

You will work with other agencies as well as teams within CYPMHS to provide appropriate interventions and packages of care.

You may be required to support the Crisis Call Line by taking calls and signposting appropriately.
