Job summary
Applications are invited for a full time Junior Clinical Fellow post, designed as an interim step to those resident doctors finished Foundation training and wanting further experience in medicine prior to making acommitment to specialist training.
This is a Trust funded post which is rich in experience but not recognised as part of a formal training programme.
The indicative duration of the post will be 12 months, in conjunction with the normal period of resident doctor rotational training posts each year in August. There may be potential to extend the duration of the post in agreement with the doctor and the department.

Main duties of the job
Duties are shared with the FY2, IMT and ST doctors working in the department.
Duties include:
With the existing FY and IMT doctors, provide resident doctor cover for haematology inpatients Attend to patients who self refer via the acute haematology oncology service Medical cover for patients attending the Weybourne day unit, AOHS and VTE clinic Weekly procedure list for bone marrows and line removal (training will be given) Participation in departmental clinical governance and quality activities.
The standard working hours for this post are Monday to Friday 0830-1630. The post does not have evening, nights or weekend shifts on the scheduled rota. However, the post holder may be offered opportunities to locum cover shifts in addition to their main duties if vacancies arise.
There is a weekly morphology meeting. In addition the department has monthly journal club and guideline of the month meetings, which the post holder is encouraged to attend.
The appointment is to the Trust, not to specific hospitals.
All employees, including the appointee, will be expected to be involved in implementing the Trust's Clinical Governance programme. This includes active participation in clinical audit, quality, clinical guidelines/pathways, professional development, appraisal and risk management.
