Job summary
Channel View Medical Group in Teignmouth is seeking an enthusiastic and skilled Phlebotomist to join our friendly Practice. We are looking for a dedicated, compassionate, and approachable individual who will complement our team. The individual must be a team player, have excellent communication skills, good time management skills and the ability to work under pressure.
We are a 22,500 patient practice located in the beautiful coastal town of Teignmouth. We have branch sites in Bishopsteignton, Shaldon and in Chudleigh on the edge of Dartmoor. We have a great nursing and HCA team who are committed to providing high quality patient-centred care.
Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will play an important role in supporting patient care by carrying out blood collection and assisting with a range of clinical and administrative duties.

Job description Job responsibilities
The duties and responsibilities of the Phlebotomist may include, but are not limited to:
Collecting blood samples in accordance with current training, policies, and infection control proceduresEnsuring all samples are accurately and legibly labelled to confirm patient identityRecording details of all sample collections in patient records, following practice protocolsPreparing and dispatching samples to appropriate laboratories in a timely and safe mannerAssisting clinicians with chaperoning duties during examinations or proceduresProcessing and managing other laboratory samples requested by GPs or NursesSupporting vaccine and cold chain storage, monitoring, and recording in line with policy and the Green BookMaintaining adequate stocks of surgical equipment and vaccines, ensuring correct rotation and replenishmentClearing, cleaning, and restocking consulting rooms between clinicsReporting any significant patient concerns or abnormal findings to the GP or Nurse promptly

Qualifications Essential
Qualified in Phlebotomy Qualified to NVQ level 2 in Health and Social Care GCSE grade A to C in English and Maths
Physical Effort Essential
Work in the office environment including periods based at workstation, computer / keyboard skills and dealing with distractions and interruptions
Experience Essential
Experience of working as a Phlebotomist Experience of working within a nursing team Experience of dealing with vulnerable patients

Experience working in primary care Experience of working in a GP practice
