Job summary
We are looking for a friendly, organised and compassionate receptionist to join our busy GP Practice. As the first point of contact for our patients, you will play a key role in providing excellent customer service while supporting the smooth day-to-day running of the practice. You will work as part of a dedicated team, handling a variety of administrative and receptionist duties in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
Main duties of the job
The normal duties of the role will consist of:
Act as the first point of contact for patients, visitors and healthcare professionals.Answer telephone calls promptly, dealing with enquiries efficiently and directing them to the appropriate member of the team as required.Welcome patients, check them in for appointments, and manage the reception area.Book, amend and cancel appointments as required.Signposting patients to appropriate services.General use of clinical system - SystmOneProcess repeat prescription requests.General administration tasks such as processing new registrations, summarising medical records, distributing incoming mail, dealing with emails.Liaise with GPs, nurses and other members of the team.Any other duties as required.

Our clinical team consists of one GP Partner, three salaried GPs, an Advanced Nurse Practitioner, a Physician Associate, Practice Nurses and a Healthcare Assistant. Qualifications Desirable
GCSE grade A to C in English and Maths
Experience Essential
Previous experience in a customer-facing or reception role. Experience of providing excellent customer service in a busy environment. Experience of handling telephone and face-to-face enquiries professionally. Experience of using computer systems and Microsoft Office applications. Experience of managing tasks and prioritising workload. Excellent communication skills. Ability to work as part of a team and independently. A professional, empathetic and confidential approach when dealing with patients and colleagues.
Desirable
Previous experience working in a GP practice, NHS or other healthcare setting. Experience with SystmOne. Knowledge of primary care services and appointment booking process. Experience of processing repeat prescription requests and patient registrations. Understanding of patient confidentiality, GDPR and information governance. Knowledge of medical terminology.
