Job summary

An exciting opportunity has become available for a motivated, organised, and enthusiastic scheduling administrator to join our dynamic Medical Day Unit team at The Royal Marsden. As a key member of our administrative team, you will play a vital role in delivering a smooth and efficient patient journey. Your day-to-day responsibilities will include scheduling and coordinating patient appointments for cancer treatment, supporting and responding to patient queries with care and professionalism, acting as a front-of-house ambassador on our front desk, creating a welcoming environment, and providing essential administrative support to a busy and fast-paced day unit. Our Medical Day Unit delivers life-changing anti-cancer treatments, clinical trials, and supportive care to patients Monday to Friday. It is important you are adaptable, flexible, and able to work effectively in a fast-paced setting and you have experience in administrative and scheduling duties. Main duties of the job

The Administrator/Scheduler is an integral member of the Medical Day Unit team under the supervision of the Administrative Manager and Nursing Managers. The post holder will coordinate all administrative and scheduling aspects of the Day Care Services including appointment scheduling, reception, and clerical duties. The working days will be Monday - Friday 08:00 - 16:00 or 09:00 - 17:00.

To manage all new patient cancer treatment referrals from clinicians, ensuring that the first cancer treatment is scheduled within NHS Cancer Waiting Times targets.To liaise directly with the patient regarding their treatment, providing information and reassurance and managing patient expectations around the cancer treatment scheduling experience.To liaise with the clinical teams and nursing staff to prioritise the scheduling of patient appointments.To schedule all cancer treatment appointments on the Medical Day Unit in line with local guidelines and protocols.To plan patient treatment and unit capacity efficiently, having consideration for a range of influencing factors such as the nursing staff rota, pharmacy turnaround times, availability of blood results, patient experience, and clinic schedules.To book chemotherapy prescribing clinic and treatment appointments for all patients receiving chemotherapy.To develop specialist knowledge of cancer and chemotherapy and supportive regimes used within day care.
