Job summary
Walkden Medical Centre provides a busy and varied patient focused environment with a genuine team approach to patient care, consisting of 7 GPs, 1 ANP, 3 Practice Nurses,1 Healthcare Assistant & 1 Phlebotomist.
We are looking for a highly experienced Health Care Assistant to join our team. The candidate would be someone who is motivated and committed to providing high quality care. They will work collaboratively with the general practice team to meet the needs of the patients, ensuring practice policies and procedures are followed.

Main duties of the job
Ideally the candidate has worked in a GP Surgery, should have a strong emphasis on good teamwork in addition to sound decision making and excellent interpersonal skills and have the ability to manage own workload.
Duties will include:- Phlebotomy, managing samples, helping with chronic disease management, ECG's, Ear syringing, NHS Health checks, wound care and ulcer management, waste management, stock control and helping with nursing administration as and when required.
Experience of using EMIS Web would be advantageous.

Job description Job responsibilities
The post holder is an experienced Healthcare Assistant who will work within their scope of practice and professional boundaries to provide high-quality care and support to patients within the GP surgery. They will undertake a range of clinical and administrative duties, ensuring that patients receive safe, effective, and compassionate care.
The Healthcare Assistant will assist in the delivery of health promotion, screening, and monitoring programmes, including taking and recording clinical observations such as blood pressure, pulse, height, weight, ECGs, and blood samples, as appropriate to their training and competencies. They will support patients in managing their health and wellbeing and contribute to the prevention of illness and the promotion of healthy lifestyles.
The post holder will work collaboratively with GPs, nurses, and the wider multidisciplinary team to meet the needs of patients and support the delivery of high-quality primary care services. They will ensure accurate record keeping, maintain confidentiality at all times, and adhere to practice policies, procedures, and infection prevention and control standards.
The Healthcare Assistant will contribute to the efficient running of the practice, ensuring that equipment is maintained and clinical areas are stocked and prepared. They will participate in training and development activities to maintain and enhance their skills and knowledge, providing a professional, patient-focused service at all times.

Qualifications Essential
NVQ level 3 or 4 - training will be given to the right candidate
Desirable
Qualified in phlebotomy qualified to NVQ level 3 or 4
Experience Essential
Some experience of working within a nursing team.
