We are seeking an enthusiastic and highly motivated psychology graduate who is keen to gain experience in order to progress towards applied training in clinical psychology. The post is focused upon supporting data collection processes for Children and Young Peoples outcomes, including clinical outcome monitoring and service-user satisfaction. Alongside the primary outcomes focused role, there are some opportunities for clinical work and to support service development under the supervision of a qualified clinical psychologist.

The role involves supporting clinical staff in using and interpreting routine outcomes measures, analysing data, producing reports and training staff in outcome measures. Having good IT skills and knowledge of Excel and SPSS would be an advantage. Excellent communication skills are necessary to be able to liaise and support clinical staff and teams, and an interest in working with children and young people is essential. Alongside the primary outcomes duties, there will be some discrete opportunities to support assessments for young people in the service, support the running of therapeutic groups and offering psychoeducation / targeted time limited treatment in a small number of cases under the close supervision of a qualified clinical psychologist. The post will be supervised by a Clinical Psychologist and the successful candidate will also report to the local Outcomes Lead.

Supporting clinical staff in using and interpreting routine outcomes measures, analysing data, producing reports and training staff in outcome measures. Disseminating best practice knowledge and guidance in relation to use of outcomes measures and attending all outcome related meetings working closely alongside the local outcomes leads and colleagues. To utilise strong IT skills and knowledge of Excel and SPSS and other relevant data systems to analyse and report on data in an accessible and concise manner. Excellent communication skills are necessary to be able to liaise and support clinical staff and teams, and an interest in working with children and young people is essential. To assist in the development of a psychologically based framework of understanding and care to the benefit of all clients of the service, across all settings where care takes place. To frequently exercise mental effort on a daily basis during triage and assessment. To convey unwelcome or unpleasant news to service users and families in an empathetic and sensitive manner To effectively manage frequent distressing or emotional circumstances, accessing support when required. To be able to cope with occasional, potential stressful, upsetting or emotional situations in an empathetic manner, such as referrals which may have information about traumatic childhood experiences and abuse. To create graphs, presentations or charts to collage or summarise data on individual interventions or treatment programmes. To assist in producing visual material or user friendly information for access to services within Bromley.
Person Specification
Qualifications Essential
An honours degree in psychology. Entitlement to graduate basis for registration of the British Psychological Society
Experience Essential
Experience working within a Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service Team. Experience of contributing to audit and service evaluation in a CAMHS setting
Desirable
Further post-graduate experience in relevant areas of professional psychology, mental health practice and/or research design and analysis.
Skills Essential
High level communication skills (written and verbal) including an ability to communicate effectively. Ability to manage workload and work independently, reliably and consistently with work agreed and managed at regular intervals. Ability to manage emotional circumstances and distressed states of young people. Ability to engage in the supervision process as indicated by the BPS
