Do you have experience working with people experiencing acute mental health difficulties and want to develop into an advanced practitioner role?

We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Registered Mental Health Nurse (RMN) to join our Crisis Resolution & Home Treatment Team (CRHT) in Hastings as part of a Band 6 RMHN to Band 7 SNP NMP Career Development Programme.

This is an exciting opportunity for practitioners who are passionate about crisis care and who aspire to progress into a senior clinical role. The post has been designed to support the development of advanced assessment, leadership and prescribing skills, culminating in progression to a Band 7 Senior Mental Health Practitioner/Non-Medical Prescriber role, this would require the practitioner to complete and pass the Non-Medical prescribing course, subject to completion of agreed competencies and successful achievement of development objectives.

Main duties of the job

As a Career Development Practitioner within CRHT you will:

Undertake comprehensive mental health and risk assessments for individuals experiencing acute mental health crises.

Develop and implement collaborative care and recovery plans with service users and carers.

Deliver evidence-based interventions and monitor treatment effectiveness.

Work in partnership with families, carers, health and social care services, emergency services and voluntary sector organisations.

Contribute to gatekeeping and assessment processes to support alternatives to hospital admission.

Develop leadership skills through shift co-ordination, supervision of students and junior staff, and participation in service development initiatives.

Progress through a structured development programme towards advanced practice competencies and, where required, undertake Non-Medical Prescribing training.

Upon successful completion of the development pathway, undertake the responsibilities of a Band 7 Senior Mental Health Practitioner/Independent Prescriber role.

The Crisis Resolution & Home Treatment Team forms part of Sussex Partnership's Urgent Care Services and provides assessment, treatment and intensive support for people experiencing a mental health crisis. Our aim is to provide a safe and effective alternative to hospital admission wherever possible, supporting people in their own homes and communities while maintaining close links with inpatient services and partner agencies.

The team works closely with a range of services including Mental Health Liaison, The Haven, Blue Light Service, Neighbourhood Mental Health Teams, GPs, emergency services and third sector partners to ensure people receive timely access to the right care and treatment pathway.

Person Specification

Qualifications Essential

Registered Nurse with current registration [mental health/LD/Adult], appropriate to the job role Completion of Mentorship Course/ENB equivalent Evidence of continuous professional development

Knowledge/Experience Essential

Significant post qualifying experience in the relevant care group Experience of working alongside people with complex health problems in the designated care group Experience of supervising staff Experience of providing a range of clinical interventions to people in the designated care group with a variety of health problems Experience of working consultatively with professionals Experience of conducting clinical assessments including risk assessments Experience of partnership working within and across various statutory and non statutory teams and agencies Experience of working within the CPA process Understanding of clinical governance Previous experience of working in the community
