About this role

Job summary

We are looking for a midwife who has a passion for education and can offer the right support to our pre-registration students to achieve their goal to become qualified midwives.

We want someone who has a focus on evidence-based training as well as pastoral support to ensure an excellent student experience as well as successful completion of training.

This role is North Middlesex Hospital based.

Main duties of the job

This role will require the postholder to demonstrate high levels of organisation and sound clinical knowledge. They would need to have a good understanding of midwifery training and other issues in maternity education.

They will also need to have a strong focus on the health and wellbeing of our student population.

Person Specification

Education and Qualifications Essential

Qualified midwife with active NMC registration. First degree ENB 998 / Mentorship or teaching qualification Practice Assessor Neonatal life support instructor PROMPT/ALSO trainer

Desirable

Masters level qualification or a post graduate qualification Practice teacher or other teaching qualification or willingness to work towards

Skills and abilities Essential

Ability to demonstrate effective communication both written and verbal Ability to manage difficult conversations sensitively Ability to contribute pro-actively to a multi-disciplinary team Good organisational & leadership skills Ability to initiate, evaluate and sustain change Excellent all-round midwifery skills Good presentation skills Able to be self-directed and work on / under own initiative. Able to set key priorities and targets Effective time management skills

Clinical Audit and service evaluation PROMPT/ NLS instructor

Experience Essential

At least three years experience of post-qualification clinical practice Ability to work across the hospital and community setting Experience of supporting students in practice both as Clinical Supervisor and Assessor Committed to the training of student midwives Commitment to the provision of a quality service Enjoy teaching and development of individuals Good IT skills
