About this role

Job summary

The role of Medical Receptionist is to provide comprehensive clerical support to the Practice in a reception and administrative role. It involves a high level of confidentiality and use of own initiative.

The practice opening hours are 08:00 to 18:30 Monday to Friday.

The position will be 3 full days with various working hours of 08.00-17.00 and 08.00-18.30.

Provisional interview dates of 13th August or 17th August

Main duties of the job

Duties & Responsibilities

To provide and promote efficient and effective delivery of high quality clerical support to the Primary Health Care Team Dealing with patients and visitors, both face to face and on the telephone Answering the telephone promptly, making appointments, dealing with enquiries and recording of messages for colleagues Recording, filing and retrieval of information Handling of incoming/outgoing mail, including franking Processing prescriptions Photocopying and faxing Dealing with general enquiries from other agencies

This role profile is not exhaustive, and you may be directed to complete other tasks according to the skills and requirements for individual roles. These duties will always be reasonable and deemed within the expectations of your position.

Person Specification

Experience Essential

Good standard of education (GCSE or equivalent). Previous experience of working in an administrative or receptionist role. Excellent communication skills (oral and written). Effective time management (Planning & Organising) - working to deadlines and prioritising workload. Excellent interpersonal skills. Proven problem solving & analytical skills. Strong IT skills (generic). Able to work under pressure. Remaining calm and tactful when dealing with patients in distress. Sensitive and empathetic. Motivated and proactive. Good team player. Highly organised. Ability to use initiative and judgement. High levels of integrity and resilience. Maintains confidentiality at all times. Compassion. Respect and dignity. Commitment to quality of care. Improving lives. Everyone counts. Working together for patients.

Desirable

Experience of working in a health or social care setting. Primary Care General Practice experience. General Practice administrative experience. General Practice clinical systems user skills.
