Job summary

We are recruiting for Clinical Support Worker Outpatients who share our vision to be trusted to provide consistently outstanding care and exemplary service to our patients.

Please note if you are successfully appointed into this role you will need to be able to travel across three trust sites, this is Lister Hospital (Stevenage), New QE11 Hospital (Welwyn) and Hertford County Hospital (Hertford).

The Clinical Support Worker (CSW) is an integral member of the multidisciplinary team, providing high-quality care and support to patients under the direction and supervision of registered healthcare professionals.

Main duties of the job

If you are invited to an interview you will need to sit a role related assessment

You will assist in delivering safe, compassionate, and person-centred care, supporting patients with their physical, emotional, and social needs while promoting dignity, respect, and independence.

The Clinical Support Worker will undertake a range of delegated clinical and non-clinical duties, including assisting with personal care, monitoring and recording observations, supporting patient assessments and treatments, maintaining accurate documentation, and contributing to the smooth and efficient running of the clinical area

Welcoming, preparing, and supporting patients attending outpatient clinics and ensuring a positive patient experience.

Undertaking and recording routine clinical observations, such as blood pressure, pulse, temperature, oxygen saturation, height, weight, and urinalysis, in accordance with Trust policies and competency requirements.

Assisting with appointment flow and clinic organisation to support efficient service delivery and minimise patient waiting times.

Supporting clinicians during examinations, treatments, and minor procedures, ensuring equipment and clinical areas are prepared appropriately.

Person Specification

Qualifications / Training Essential

GCSEs (or equivalent qualification or standard) in English and Math

Desirable

Care Certificate Health and Social Care Level 2

Previous Experience Desirable

Experience of healthcare or care work Experience of working with the general public or a range of different people

Skills Essential

Ability to communicate effectively people with varying levels of understanding Evidence of being self-motivated Evidence of working effectively as part of a team Basic IT skills - ability to use keyboard or willingness to develop Excellent time management and organisational skills Ability to work in a busy, sometimes pressurized environment Ability to work to deadlines Ability to use judgement on when to escalate issues and problems
