Job Summary The Dishroom Operator supports Food and Nutrition Services operations by ensuring the cleanliness, sanitation, and availability of dishes, utensils, cookware, serviceware, and foodservice equipment. This position plays a vital role in maintaining food safety and sanitation standards while supporting patient meal service, tray delivery, and overall kitchen operations. The Dishroom Operator promotes an efficient, organized, and safe work environment while contributing to a positive patient and customer experience. Essential Functions

• Operates dishwashing equipment in accordance with established procedures and safety standards.

• Cleans and sanitizes dishes, flatware, utensils, pots, pans, trays, carts, and kitchen equipment to ensure compliance with food safety and sanitation requirements.

• Prepares items for washing by scraping, rinsing, and presoaking materials to remove food debris and visible soil.

• Monitors dish machine operation, chemical concentrations, temperatures, and sanitation processes to ensure proper cleaning and sanitization.

• Maintains dishroom sanitation logs and reports equipment concerns or operational issues as appropriate.

• Delivers patient meal trays and late trays accurately and within established timeframes.

• Verifies patient identification and follows confidentiality and patient safety procedures during meal delivery.

• Transports patient meal carts and nourishment carts to and from nursing units and other designated locations.

• Cleans, sanitizes, and maintains meal carts, transport equipment, and dishroom work areas.

• Restocks clean dishes, utensils, trays, and serviceware in designated storage locations using proper handling techniques.

• Maintains cleanliness and organization of dishroom, storage areas, workstations, and related equipment.

• Supports patient tray line operations and assists with foodservice activities as assigned.

• Maintains compliance with food safety regulations, sanitation standards, infection prevention requirements, and departmental policies.

• Performs other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Ability to follow established food safety, sanitation, and infection prevention procedures.

• Ability to operate dishwashing and cleaning equipment safely and effectively.

• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.

• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.

• Ability to maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.

• Ability to communicate effectively and work cooperatively with team members, patients, and customers.

• Ability to provide excellent customer service and maintain professional interactions.

• Knowledge of proper handling, cleaning, sanitizing, and storage procedures for foodservice equipment and supplies preferred.

• Ability to accurately complete assigned documentation and sanitation records.

• Ability to adapt to changing priorities and operational needs.

Education

• High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.

Field of Study

• N/A

Work Experience

• Food service, hospitality, environmental services, or related experience preferred.

Licenses and Certifications

• Food Handler Certificate preferred.

Additional Information

• Food Safety Handler Certificate preferred or required in accordance with state and local regulations. Availability to work varying shifts, weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed to support departmental operations may be required.

Pay Range:
