About this role

The Communication and Publishing Department is seeking a qualified Language Coordinator to support translation and language services across assigned languages. This role plays a vital part in helping make Church content accessible to members worldwide by coordinating translation and interpretation projects, maintaining quality standards, and collaborating with internal and external language resources. This is a permanent full-time position based at Samoa Country Office and will report to the Language Supervisor.

As a Language Coordinator, you will manage and coordinate translation-related projects to ensure they are completed on time, within quality standards, and in a cost-effective manner. You will work closely with internal stakeholders and external translation providers, oversee project workflows, monitor quality and delivery performance, support onboarding and training activities, and maintain project records using translation management systems. The role also serves as a backup to the Language Supervisor when required and regularly supports high-profile and sensitive projects.

• Bachelor's degree, preferably in Linguistics, Translation, or a related field

• 6 years of professional translation experience in the assigned language

• 1 year of project management experience or related experience

• Native or near-native proficiency in the assigned language and mastery of English, including writing, grammar, pronunciation, and syntax

• Strong understanding of the culture, customs, history, and current affairs associated with the assigned language(s)

• Demonstrated project management, organizational, and time-management skills

• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to coach and provide feedback across cultures

• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to manage multiple priorities under pressure

• Experience working with external vendors and stakeholders to meet project requirements and deadlines

• Advanced computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office applications

• Ability to learn and navigate translation management systems, business tools, and web-based platforms

• Familiarity with Computer-Assisted Translation (CAT) tools

• Knowledge of Church doctrine, policies, and ecclesiastical organization

• High integrity, sound judgment, and a commitment to service excellence

• Proof of legal right to work in Samoa

• A police background check may be required
