Gonzalez Companies is a partner managed firm that provides comprehensive Planning, Design, and Construction Management Services to large and small Water, Sewer and Utility Districts; Departments of Transportation; and municipalities. We are currently seeking a Transportation/Highway Construction Inspector to help serve our connection of clients and community. This role will cover multiple areas in Southeastern Missouri, including: Cape Giraurdo, Sikeston, Jackson and surrounding areas. The base salary range for this role is indicated in the posting. This range reflects the company’s good faith estimate of the compensation for this position at the time of posting. Final compensation will be determined based on factors such as experience, skills, qualifications, internal equity, and geographic location. Perform on-site inspection of construction projects including highways, bridges, and roadways to ensure compliance with project specifications, DOT standards, and safety regulations. Review construction plans, shop drawings, and materials to verify conformance with approved designs and applicable codes. Document construction activities daily through detailed reports, photographs, and field notes. Conduct material sampling and testing (asphalt, concrete, soils, aggregates) according to DOT procedures. Monitor contractor activities to ensure adherence to safety protocols, quality standards, and schedule requirements. Coordinate with engineers, contractors, and project managers to resolve field issues efficiently. Maintain accurate records of project progress, materials used, and any non-compliance issues. Participate in pre-construction and progress meetings to communicate inspection findings and recommendations. Identify, document, and report discrepancies or deficiencies to the project engineer or manager promptly. Stay current with DOT construction standards, specifications, and procedures.
