Assistant Lawyer / Solicitor – Regulatory, Health & Safety, Motor 📍 Leeds 💼 Salary: Competitive – discussed at application stage About the Role: We’re looking for a motivated and detail-oriented Assistant Lawyer / Solicitor to join our specialist crime and regulatory team in Leeds. Working closely with Lead Lawyer David Chant , you’ll play a key role in handling complex health & safety, and serious motor matters —often from the very outset of an incident through to resolution. This is an exciting opportunity for a lawyer who enjoys both technical legal work and client interaction , and who is passionate about delivering high-quality legal solutions while building strong, trusted client relationships. Work alongside a highly respected Lead Lawyer on complex cases Gain hands-on experience from day one Build expertise in a specialist and growing area of law Be part of a supportive, team-oriented culture Opportunity to develop client relationships through training and mentoring delivery In this varied and hands-on role, you will: Analyse prosecution evidence and assess its implications for clients Draft witness statements and review client evidence Collate, organise, and summarise case materials for senior lawyers Liaise with courts, coroners, regulators (HSE, CQC, Police) and external experts Prepare and serve defence case statements, sentencing and mitigation bundles Draft submissions and support case strategy development Attend interviews under caution, inquests, and trials alongside Counsel Conduct legal and regulatory research (including HSE guidelines) Review medical records, post-mortem reports, transcripts and CCTV evidence Coordinate meetings, site visits, and expert appointments Support clients sensitively in often challenging and high-pressure situations
