Requirements: We require 8-12+ years of experience in cloud engineering or cloud architecture.We require deep expertise in Azure architecture, including networking, App Services, Functions, APIM, PaaS, ACR, VNets, Private Endpoints, and identity/security.We require strong Terraform experience, including modules, pipelines, and state management.We require a strong CI/CD background, with experience in Azure DevOps and GitHub Actions.We require experience designing for SRE practices, including disaster recovery, failover, monitoring, logging, autoscaling, and resilience.We require experience working across multiple engineering teams.Cloudflare experience is preferred.This is an architecture-led platform role rather than a pure Solution Architect position. Responsibilities: We own and evolve our Azure and AWS cloud architecture, platform patterns, guardrails, and design principles.We provide architectural oversight across Terraform modules, CI/CD pipelines, networking patterns, and compute and storage design.We evaluate platform changes, including major provider upgrades, disaster recovery and high availability improvements, cost optimisation strategies, and observability frameworks.We lead technical designs for large-scale refactoring, provider upgrades, environment creation pipelines, secure container registry access, identity integration, Zero Trust patterns, and event-driven architectures with caching strategies.We drive Cloudflare integration across CDN, WAF, edge, and traffic management, aligned to our Azure networking and security architecture.We provide engineering governance through review of RFCs, design documents, and technical decisions.We collaborate with delivery teams, security, shared services, and product groups to maintain aligned architecture. We are offering a 3-month initial contract with scope for extension, working inside IR35 at a day rate. The role is based in Southampton with onsite work required two days per week. We are seeking a Principal Cloud Platform Engineer to support the design, delivery, and continuous improvement of secure, scalable, and resilient cloud platforms across Azure and AWS. This is a manager-level technical leadership role focused on DevOps, cloud platforms, infrastructure as code, CI/CD, networking, security, observability, and reliability engineering, helping shape enterprise-scale transformation and hybrid cloud strategy aligned to the Azure Well-Architected Framework.
