Salary: £40,000 - 55,000 per year
Requirements: Strong experience with Microsoft Azure in a hybrid enterprise environment, including identity integration, networking, virtual machines, governance, and migration of on-premises services.Advanced knowledge of Microsoft 365, Entra ID, and multi-site, multi-domain Active Directory environments.Strong Windows Server administration experience.Networking expertise, including TCP/IP, DHCP, DNS, VLANs, and next-generation firewalls.Experience supporting secure infrastructure environments and applying infrastructure security best practices.Working knowledge of backup, disaster recovery, and business continuity processes.Experience with infrastructure monitoring, troubleshooting, and incident response.Strong scripting ability in at least one language, such as PowerShell, Python, or Bash.Ability to create clear technical documentation, procedures, and standards.Able to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify practical and creative solutions.High attention to detail, with the mindset to validate changes and check for expected outcomes.Strong aptitude for learning new technologies.Linux management in a corporate environment.VMware vSphere administration is desirable.Enterprise storage administration, ideally including NetApp, is desirable.Microsoft Intune and endpoint management experience is desirable.Veeam backup and replication experience is desirable.MacOS management in a corporate environment is desirable.Atlassian tools, including Jira, Confluence, and Bitbucket, are desirable.CI/CD tools such as TeamCity, GitLab, Azure DevOps, or similar are desirable.Infrastructure-as-code or automation tooling experience is desirable.Palo Alto, Fortinet, or other next-generation firewall platform experience is desirable.Experience contributing to ISO27001, security, change management, or other formal IT governance processes is desirable.Experience working in a multi-site or international business environment is desirable. Responsibilities: Help deliver our data centre migration goals into Microsoft Azure.Take ownership of core infrastructure services, including Active Directory, Microsoft 365, Azure, LAN, firewalls, backup, virtualisation, and storage.Strengthen infrastructure security and promote best practice across the environment as part of our ISO27001 readiness programme.Research, plan, and implement infrastructure upgrades and replacement solutions, independently or as part of a team.Administer VMware vSphere infrastructure and enterprise storage platforms.Respond to alerts from network and system monitoring tools to minimise downtime and service impact.Administer backup and disaster recovery systems, including testing, documentation, and improvement of recovery processes.Create and maintain internal documentation, procedures, processes, and technical standards.Handle escalated issues from the IT helpdesk relating to core infrastructure services.Support infrastructure requirements for development and operational tooling, including CI/CD platforms where required.Contribute to infrastructure planning, lifecycle management, security improvement, and cloud adoption initiatives.Travel occasionally to our other sites as required to support infrastructure migrations and upgrades. We are Hybrid Software Helix, and we are seeking a Senior Infrastructure Systems Engineer to join our small internal IT department supporting our operating companies worldwide. This hybrid role is based in Cambourne, Cambridgeshire, with three office days per week, and reports directly to our Chief Information Officer. We work with a modern infrastructure environment across multiple sites, including Windows Server, Active Directory, HP-based networking, next-generation firewalls, vSphere, Microsoft Azure, Atlassian tools, Veeam, Microsoft 365, and Intune. The role supports our cloud adoption strategy and our preparations for ISO27001 certification.
