Salary: £100,000 - 110,000 per year
Requirements: Significant experience designing, building and operating cloud-native platforms in enterprise or large-scale environments.Strong experience with AWS, including multi-account architectures and secure landing zones.Experience building and operating Kubernetes platforms, particularly EKS, with AKS experience also beneficial.Expertise in Infrastructure as Code using tools such as Terraform.Strong understanding of CI/CD, DevSecOps and modern software delivery practices.Experience implementing observability solutions using tools such as OpenTelemetry, Prometheus and Grafana.Strong knowledge of cloud security, identity, networking and platform reliability.Experience leading technical discussions and influencing engineering direction across multiple teams.Proven ability to mentor engineers and provide technical leadership within multidisciplinary teams.Experience with Azure and/or Google Cloud Platform is desirable.Experience building Internal Developer Platforms and self-service engineering capabilities is desirable.Knowledge of GitOps tooling such as Argo CD or Flux is desirable.Experience applying Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) practices is desirable.Experience driving FinOps initiatives and cloud cost optimisation is desirable.Experience modernising legacy estates and delivering large-scale transformation programmes is desirable.Familiarity with event-driven architectures and platform automation is desirable.Experience working within highly regulated or secure environments is desirable. Responsibilities: Design, build and continuously improve critical digital services used across the Nation.Design secure, scalable multi-cloud landing zones, primarily within AWS.Build GitOps-driven platforms and Internal Developer Platforms that provide self-service capabilities for engineering teams.Modernise legacy environments into cloud-native architectures.Create unified observability solutions using OpenTelemetry, Prometheus, Grafana and modern APM tooling.Drive improvements in reliability, operability and platform performance through Site Reliability Engineering practices.Implement secure CI/CD pipelines with a strong focus on DevSecOps and software supply-chain integrity.Deliver event-driven automation and infrastructure capabilities.Drive FinOps initiatives and optimise cloud consumption across large-scale estates.Apply platform-as-a-product principles to create reusable, scalable engineering capabilities.Act as a senior technical authority, influencing platform strategy, architecture and governance.Lead technical workshops, architecture discussions and design reviews with stakeholders and delivery teams.Define and evolve engineering standards covering security, reliability, observability, CI/CD and operational excellence.Establish Service Level Objectives, improve reliability and facilitate incident reviews and continuous improvement activities.Champion platform engineering best practices and help teams adopt them successfully.Coach and mentor engineers through pairing, technical leadership and knowledge sharing.Drive platform-as-a-product thinking, establishing golden paths and self-service capabilities that improve developer experience.Remain hands-on by contributing to designs, code reviews, automation and complex technical problem solving.Work closely with delivery teams, architects and client stakeholders to define platform strategy and build reusable capabilities.
