YOU MUST BE EMPLOYED BY A CONSTRUCTION CONTRACTOR TO APPLY!

Apprenticeship Training:

• OSHA 10 certification - 10 hours federal safety training (online)

• Receive certification in NCCER Core Curriculum which includes hand tools, power tools, material handling, construction math, and basic safety

• Building Basics - Basic wall framing, laying out foundation, batter boards, transit, material handling, proficiency with circular saw and impact drill, types of home foundations and construction methods

• Door, Window & Trim - Door and window install, reveals, door and window casing, sills, caulking, hole filling, baseboard, coping,

• Hardware - Blocking, locksets, knobs, pulls, grab bars, hardware mounting, mounting cabinetry

• Building Basics - Basic wall framing, layout out foundation, batter boards, transit, material handling, proficiency with circular saw and impact drill, types of home foundations and construction methods

• Work Ethic - Personal habits (accountability, finance, hygiene, sleep, decision making, attitude, communication, soft skills), worldview and how it determines thought and action, transportation, career aspiration and planning, common traits of successful employees, continued education, promotions, providing for family

• Workflow - order and scheduling of tasks (Gantt), residential project steps, material takeoff from plans, problem solving

Location: Skilled Trades of West Alabama - 1300 James Harrison Parkway Tuscaloosa, AL

Time: Class meets Monday 5pm-8pm for 38 weeks beginning August 10, 2026

Cost: $20/week Payroll deducted

Requirements: Must be employed by a construction contractor for apprenticeship training
