About this role

About the role:

The QA Engineer (Mobile App) is responsible for the quality of Safetrust's mobile credentials apps (iOS and Android) and supporting web portals. This position plays a key role in the QA organization, ensuring the full user experience — from credential provisioning and wallet interactions to BLE/NFC reader handshakes — works reliably across devices.

This role focuses on test design, execution, and defect management across mobile and web, and contributes to Safetrust's continued growth by protecting the quality of the customer-facing credential experience.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design, write, and execute test cases for mobile (iOS, Android) and web applications.

• Verify BLE/NFC interactions between mobile apps and physical readers across many device models.

• Maintain a device matrix and ensure coverage across OS versions, screen sizes, and OEM variants.

• Test push notifications, deep links, biometrics, secure storage, and credential lifecycle flows.

• Perform exploratory, regression, and acceptance testing for each release.

• File clear, reproducible bug reports with logs, screenshots, and video where useful.

• Contribute to API testing using tools like Postman; write basic automated checks where it pays off.

• Partner with developers, product managers, and customer support to drive defects to resolution.

• Design, develop, execute, and maintain comprehensive test plans, test cases, and validation procedures for Safetrust's mobile applications and supporting web portals.

• Perform functional, regression, integration, exploratory, acceptance, and end-to-end testing across iOS, Android, and web platforms.

• Validate credential provisioning, BLE/NFC communication, wallet integration, biometrics, authentication, and secure credential lifecycle workflows.

• Verify mobile application compatibility across multiple operating systems, device manufacturers, screen sizes, and hardware configurations.

• Develop and maintain mobile device test matrices to ensure comprehensive release coverage.

• Perform API testing using Postman or similar tools to validate backend services supporting mobile applications.

• Create and maintain automated test scripts using Appium, Espresso, XCUITest, Selenium, or other automation frameworks where appropriate.

• Execute usability, accessibility, performance, and security testing to improve the overall customer experience.

• Identify, document, prioritize, and track software defects with detailed reproduction steps, logs, screenshots, videos, and impact analysis.

• Collaborate with Product Management, Software Engineering, Embedded Engineering, Cloud Engineering, and Customer Support to resolve defects and improve product quality.

• Participate in requirements reviews, design reviews, sprint planning, and release readiness activities.

• Validate application integrations with Safetrust readers, gateways, cloud services, APIs, and third-party platforms.

• Monitor application quality metrics including defect trends, regression coverage, release readiness, and production quality.

• Support production issue investigations and customer-reported defects through root cause analysis and verification of fixes.

• Continuously improve testing methodologies, automation coverage, and quality standards across the mobile engineering organization.

Skills & Experience:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.

• 1–3 years of QA experience on mobile and/or web applications (Junior: 1–2; Middle: 2–3+).

• Solid grasp of QA fundamentals: test planning, test design techniques, defect lifecycle.

• Hands-on experience testing native or hybrid mobile apps on iOS and Android.

• Comfortable with API testing tools (Postman, REST clients) and reading JSON/HTTP traffic.

• Familiarity with bug-tracking and test management tools (Jira, TestRail, or similar).

• Good written English for bug reports and cross-office collaboration.

Nice to Have / Preferred

• Experience with mobile automation frameworks (Appium, XCUITest, Espresso).

• Familiarity with BLE/NFC behaviour on mobile, or experience testing wallet/credential apps.

• Exposure to performance, security, or accessibility testing.

• Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI).

Success Profile:

The ideal candidate is:

• Detail-oriented with strong intuition for user-facing quality issues.

• Comfortable managing a broad device/OS test matrix.

• A clear communicator who partners well with developers and product managers.
