POSITION SUMMARY
The Resident Assistant (RA) plays a vital role in supporting the health, safety, and overall well-being of elders residing in the group home. Working under the supervision of the Department Director, the RA is responsible for fostering a safe, clean, and engaging living environment that promotes residents' independence while providing support as needed. This position requires a compassionate, flexible, and responsible individual capable of handling various roles including resident care, conflict resolution, safety response, and community-building. The RA serves as a role model and liaison between residents, their families, and administrative staff, ensuring clear communication and consistent care.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Resident Support & Community Engagement
• Create and maintain a welcoming, inclusive, and supportive atmosphere within the group home.
• Plan and support social, recreational, or educational activities that foster resident interaction and community building.
• Serve as a positive role model by maintaining professionalism and being approachable, respectful, and responsive to resident needs.
• Monitor residents' safety and report to administrative staff or healthcare providers.
• Respond promptly to emergencies and incidents; assist with developing and implementing emergency protocols (e.g., fire evacuation).
• Ensure working knowledge of safety equipment such as fire extinguishers and first aid kits.
• Maintain safety and cleanliness in resident rooms, shared spaces, and outdoor areas.
Policy Enforcement and Conflict Resolution
• Uphold and enforce group home policies and procedures to ensure a respectful and safe living environment.
• Address resident conflicts in a calm, respectful manner, and mediate disputes when necessary.
• Document incidents, violations, complaints, and safety concerns accurately and in a timely manner.
Administrative and Operational Support
• Act as a liaison between the group home and department administration; attend meetings and provide staff support as needed.
• Assist with opening and closing the building, performing walk-throughs, and securing the premises.
• Maintain resident records and communication logs in accordance with confidentiality and documentation standards.
• Participate in required training and professional development sessions.
Facilities and Housekeeping Support
• Ensure all public areas, common rooms, and exterior grounds are clean, safe, and well-maintained.
• Stock and organize supplies for daily use, report maintenance or inventory needs.
• Clean and prepare rooms for new residents and assist with move-in/move-out transitions.
• Maintain and repair the arrival area for guests in Room Eight, ensuring it is welcoming, functional, and presentable at all times.
Communication
• Maintain open and respectful communication with residents, families, and coworkers.
• Notify supervisors of resident concerns, family inquiries, or significant incidents.
Other Duties
• Assisting the department with scheduled transportation occasionally and filling in the kitchen when needed.
• Perform additional duties as assigned to support the overall functioning and care standards of the group home.
• Other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIREMENTS:
• High school diploma or GED required.
• Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card (or be able to obtain one within 90 days after the start date).
• Possess a valid Driver’s License and be eligible for the Tribe’s insurance.
• Submit to and Pass a pre-employment drug/alcohol screening.
• Must pass background check and meet any other pre-employment requirements.
• Previous experience working with elderly individuals or in a residential care setting preferred.

· Must be able to attend training and travel as required.
· Ability to be on-call to respond to lockouts or maintenance issues.
