About this role
OVERVIEW
Reporting to Director, Design and Implementation, the Process Engineer is responsible for defining solution design through a process engineering lens, translating business needs into practical, scalable, and technology-enabled process solutions. This role partners with product, business, IT, and delivery stakeholders to understand current-state workflows, define desired outcomes, identify inefficiencies and risks, and design future-state processes, controls, data flows, integrations, and operating models. The Process Engineer combines process engineering methods, solution design practices, data-driven analysis, automation thinking, and strong facilitation skills to shape solutions that improve productivity, quality, compliance, user experience, operational resilience, and measurable business value. Experience using Lucid for process mapping, workflow modelling, solution visualization, collaboration, and documentation is required.
This is a salaried position and requires residency in Canada.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Strategy & Planning
• Map current-state information system processes, workflows, handoffs, data flows, roles, controls, system touchpoints, and pain points using Lucid and other approved modelling standards.
• Partner with business leaders, process owners, IT teams, architects, vendors, and end users to define business outcomes, process requirements, solution requirements, constraints, dependencies, and success measures.
• Analyze the effectiveness, efficiency, scalability, compliance, risk profile, data quality, system alignment, and user experience of existing business processes and supporting solutions.
• Design future-state processes, solution concepts, operating models, decision flows, exception paths, controls, automation opportunities, and technology enablement patterns that improve operational performance.
• Develop solution options, process recommendations, business cases, implementation approaches, impact assessments, and decision-ready documentation for leadership and delivery teams.
• Perform cost-benefit, return on investment, risk, capacity, feasibility, and operational readiness analyses for proposed process and solution changes.
• Define scope, assumptions, dependencies, measures, baselines, acceptance criteria, target outcomes, and traceability from business need through process design and solution delivery.
Acquisition & Deployment
• Collaborate in the solution design, planning, configuration, testing, deployment, and adoption of improved processes, supporting applications, integrations, automations, and workflow enhancements.
• Research process improvement methods, solution design practices, workflow technologies, automation tools, collaboration platforms, and business applications to support recommendations and implementation planning.
Operational Management
• Develop, standardize, document, and maintain improved information system processes, solution designs, operating procedures, process controls, and workflow documentation based on analysis, design decisions, and implementation outcomes.
• Communicate process and solution changes, impacts, risks, adoption requirements, and expected benefits to leaders, peers, delivery teams, support teams, and affected users.
• Create clear process models, swim lane diagrams, workflow maps, solution views, value-stream views, requirements, test scenarios, and implementation documentation using Lucid and related tools.
• Estimate effort, timelines, resource needs, risks, dependencies, technical considerations, and operational impacts for process changes and solution design initiatives.
• Facilitate workshops with cross-functional stakeholders to validate current-state findings, co-design future-state processes and solution concepts, resolve gaps, and support implementation readiness.
• Coordinate and support testing, user validation, pilot activities, training, change adoption, post-implementation review, and benefits tracking for new or improved processes and solutions.
• Provide solution design and process engineering guidance, coaching, and knowledge sharing to junior staff members and cross-functional partners.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education
• University degree, or equivalent experience in business administration, business technology, information systems, industrial engineering, operations management, computer science, management information systems, or a related discipline, plus relevant professional experience.
Experience
• 5+ years of experience in business process engineering or related roles
Knowledge & Skills
• Required hands-on experience using Lucid or approved modelling tools to create process maps, swim lane diagrams, workflow models, decision flows, solution views, and collaborative process documentation.
• Proven experience with business process engineering, solution design, process modelling, process mapping, requirements analysis, workflow design, and continuous improvement methods.
• Demonstrated project delivery, facilitation, stakeholder management, workshop leadership, communication, design thinking, and change adoption skills.
• Experience assessing current-state processes and supporting systems, identifying bottlenecks, waste, control gaps, data issues, integration needs, and user-experience pain points, and translating findings into practical solution recommendations.
• Experience designing and implementing future-state processes, solution concepts, standard operating procedures, process controls, automation opportunities, and measurable performance improvements.
• Working knowledge of Lean, Six Sigma, BPM, value-stream mapping, root cause analysis, service design, performance measurement, and change management practices.
• Ability to translate business needs into clear process requirements, solution requirements, user stories, acceptance criteria, test scenarios, implementation plans, and operational documentation.
• Practical experience with data analysis, reporting, spreadsheets, dashboards, metrics, baselines, and benefits tracking to evaluate process and solution performance.
• Familiarity with business applications, workflow tools, collaboration platforms, service management systems, automation platforms, integration concepts, and enterprise productivity tools.
