About this role

Job summary

Working in a really busy office as part of a team working a 7 day rota providing an efficient and effective service for our patients at all times.

If you are up for the challenge to be apart of our team within South Yorkshire Bassetlaw Pathology and you have the required qualifications you like to be busy and work to dead lines then complete the application.

Main duties of the job

Perform reception responsibilities including interaction with patients, service users and visitors.

To receive, sort, organise and distribute samples to relevant areas of the laboratory including the referral/redirection of samples to other SYB pathology sites as appropriate.

Ensure all samples are received, sorted, delivered, checked and processed within assigned time frames and in accordance with established SOP's and test algorithms.

Store and dispose of samples according to local and national guidelines. To concentrate for extended periods of time to ensure accuracy and correct processing of large repetitive workloads.

To participate in the routine shift rotas ensuring a core hour 7 day service provision.

Person Specification

Qualifications Essential

GCSE (or equivalent) in Maths and English at level C/4 or above or Level 2 qualification e.g. NVQ, Apprenticeship, or some laboratory experience

Experience Essential

Ability to follow and work to Standard Operating Procedures and Policy

Desirable

Experience of some simple laboratory techniques Ability to work with other colleagues to improve and develop working practices Previous NHS laboratory experience

Skills and Knowledge Essential

Keyboard and basic IT skills Have an awareness of Health & Safety issues Effective Communication skills, written and oral

Personal Qualities Essential

Ability to plan and prioritise allocated work

Values and Behaviours (PROUD) Essential
