The project will primarily focus on protein design, molecular cloning, recombinant protein expression in multiple expression systems (bacterial, yeast, and mammalian cells), and protein purification to generate recombinant proteins for diagnostic, therapeutic, and vaccine applications. This research is directed toward combating infectious and neglected tropical diseases. Additional responsibilities include conducting cell-based assays to investigate host-pathogen interactions and supporting the evaluation of immune responses associated with vaccine efficacy and protective immunity. </p> <p><a href="https://www.bcm.edu/departments/pediatrics/divisions-and-centers/tropical-medicine/research/vaccine-development">https://www.bcm.edu/departments/pediatrics/divisions-and-centers/tropical-medicine/research/vaccine-development</a></p></div></div><div style="padding:10.0px 0.0px;border:1.0px solid transparent"><div style="font-size:16.0px;word-wrap:break-word"><H2 style="font-size:1.0em;margin:0.0px">Job Duties</H2> </div><div><ul> <li>Perform laboratory work in molecular biology including DNA preparation, PCR, molecular cloning techniques.</li> <li>Perform laboratory work in recombinant protein expression in different platforms such as E. coli, yeast, protein analysis such as SDS-PAGE, Immunological assays such as ELISA, Western blot.</li> <li>Recombinant protein purification processes.</li> <li>Animal experiments for helminth infection and vaccination, immunological assays.</li> <li>Use AI-driven computational tools for protein structure modeling and recombinant protein design.</li> <li>Assist the unit director in analyzing and compiling data into presentations and interim reports.</li> <li>Maintain lab equipment and environment, responsible for ordering supply and materials needed.</li> <li>Work closely with QC/QA group to keep correct data entry, inventory maintaining, SOP, notebook recording and documentation.</li> <li>Conduct literature searches and summarizes information in an appropriate format.</li> <li>Analyze results of experiments and reports to principal investigators. </li> <li>Perform other job related duties as assigned.</li> </ul></div></div><div style="padding:10.0px 0.0px;border:1.0px solid transparent"><div style="font-size:16.0px;word-wrap:break-word"><H2 style="font-size:1.0em;margin:0.0px">Minimum Qualifications</H2> </div><div><ul> <li>Master&apos;s degree in Basic Science or a related field.
